CEO Awards.
Recognised among the region’s most influential names in healthcare.

The same city that tested me…
made me.

But understand this clearly
Awards don’t build you.
Struggle does.

The rejection rooms.
The empty appointment books.
The days you question everything.

That’s where the making happens.

This isn’t a success story.
It’s a consistency story.

And I’m still building.

Here I was.
Double-boarded.
Years of international exposure Bahrain, Australia, USA, Korea.
Confident. Skilled. Prepared.

And yet…

Zero patients.

Not “low flow.”
Not “slow start.”
Almost nothing.

I would dress like this every morning.
Suit. Tie. File of cases. Before-after photographs.

And then I would go clinic to clinic.

Meeting doctors.
Asking for referrals.
Explaining my techniques.
Showing my work.

Some made me sit in reception for an hour.
Some never came out to meet me.
Some refused directly.

That year broke my ego.

Because talent alone doesn’t build a practice.

Skill doesn’t guarantee visibility.
Experience doesn’t guarantee trust.
Degrees don’t guarantee patients.

What 2005 taught me was this:

• Nobody owes you success.
• Nobody cares about your CV.
• You build trust one room at a time.
• And sometimes you build it alone.

Looking back, I’m grateful for that empty waiting room.

Because it forced me to:
Refine my systems.
Sharpen my communication.
Understand branding before branding was a word in medicine.
And most importantly detach from entitlement.

If you’re a young surgeon thinking the world will open doors because you trained well…

It won’t.

You knock.
You wait.
You get rejected.
You keep going.

2005 was terrible.

But it was necessary.

I had done it.
Years of training. Sacrifice. Exams. Sleepless nights.
Now what?

Most people would settle.

I didn’t.

I decided if I was going to be great — not just qualified — I had to see how the best in the world operate.

So I left again.

Bahrain.
Australia.
United States.
Korea.

Eight years. Different systems. Different cultures. Different surgical philosophies. I observed masters. I unlearned habits. I refined technique. I understood precision at another level.

Those years shaped my discipline. My respect for anatomy. My obsession with safety.

But here’s the truth nobody talks about:

Experience does not protect you from life.

Despite the degrees.
Despite the international exposure.
Despite the confidence.

What happened in 2005 was a disaster.

And that chapter changed me more than all the fellowships combined.

I landed in cardiac surgery.
Not by design. By circumstance.

And honestly?
That phase gave me discipline. Precision. Respect for anatomy. Respect for life.

Cardiac surgery teaches you one thing very clearly —
There is no room for error.

But there was something else cardiac surgery gave me.

It introduced me to Sangeeta —
my heartbeat… and my life partner.

Maybe that was God’s plan.

Because deep inside, I still knew… this wasn’t my final destination.

Two people changed the trajectory.

Dr. Pankaj Maheshwari — my friend —Now a leading Urologist
He refused to let me settle. He kept pushing me back toward plastic surgery.

And Sangeeta —
She didn’t just stand beside me.
She supported the decision when it meant uncertainty again. Another exam. Another risk.

I prepared for one of the toughest entrance exams in India.
It was do or die.

And I secured my plastic surgery seat.

That detour into cardiac surgery?
It wasn’t a mistake.

It built my hands.
It tested my resolve.
And it gave me my life partner.

It was preparation.”
