TDCC Talks | GESS Dubai 2025

At the GESS Dubai 2025 Conference, Amina Shazib, Psychologist and Head of Inclusive Educational Services at The Developing Child Centre (TDCC), led an interactive and well-attended workshop on “Inclusive Education in the UAE: From Policy to Daily Practice.”

Amina guided educators, school leaders, and specialists through the real-world application of inclusive frameworks, translating policies into meaningful classroom practices that support every learner. Participants explored how small, intentional changes in teaching strategies, environment design, and emotional support can transform a child’s sense of belonging, capability, and confidence.

Through discussions, case examples, and practical tools, Amina highlighted how TDCC’s work in early intervention, psychology, inclusive education, learning support, and therapy services helps children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Her session echoed TDCC’s mission: to build inclusive communities where every child learns, belongs, and reaches their full potential.

Thank you to Dubai and to all the educators and professionals who joined and contributed to a powerful conversation on inclusion.

Adventure Day at XPark Jr!

Our children had an incredible time exploring XPark Jr, from nature play to climbing, running, and of course… waterplay!

This hands-on adventure allowed them to learn through movement, curiosity, and sensory-rich experiences that go beyond the classroom.
Why waterplay matters:

Waterplay supports key areas of development such as:
• Fine & Gross Motor Skills: pouring, splashing, balancing, and coordinating movements
• Sensory Processing: exploring temperature, texture, pressure, and movement
• Communication & Social Skills: taking turns, interacting with peers, and expressing excitement
• Cognitive Skills: experimenting, problem-solving, and understanding cause & effect

Taking children to environments like XPark Jr allows them to:
• Build confidence through safe risk-taking
• Engage in real-life learning through play
• Strengthen social connections
• Explore nature while developing independence and resilience

At TDCC, we believe that every adventure is an opportunity to grow, just like on this one, our little explorers surely did!

We are proud to share that Zara Mirza, Head of Learning Support Services, presented at the 11th Biennial Gulf Comparative Education Society (GCES) Symposium: Pedagogy, Policy, and Praxis in the GCC.

Zara shared the joint research conducted with Dr. Prithvi Perepa from the University of Birmingham, UK on the distinguished panel “Supporting Diverse Learners: Inclusion, Choice, and Classroom Strategy.” Zara delivered their insightful work on “Choosing the Right School: Exploring the Factors that Influence Decision-Making for Families of Children with Disabilities in Dubai.”
