1. Rubbing eyes, ears, or face🫣
A classic early sign—your baby may vigorously rub their eyes or pull at their ears when they’re exhausted.

2. Frequent yawning🥱
A few yawns are normal, but repeated yawning often means tiredness is turning into overtiredness.

3. Becoming clingy or fussy😑
Babies often want to be held more, cry easily, or resist being put down when overtired.

4. Trouble feeding🫩
Over-fatigue can make it harder for babies to latch, stay focused, or finish a feeding.

5. Difficulty settling or falling asleep🥴
Instead of dozing off, an overtired baby may seem “wired,” alert, or restless.

6. Short, restless naps😴
They may nap only 10–30 minutes and wake up cranky.

7. Increased crying or irritability😵
Crying may escalate quickly, or the baby may seem unusually sensitive to sounds or stimulation.

8. Hyperactivity or bursts of energy😉😂
Some overtired babies look wide awake, kicking or flailing as stress hormones (like cortisol) go up.

9. Clenched fists or stiff body😳
Tension in their hands, arms, or legs can indicate they’re past their tired window.
