On occasion of Autism Awareness Day, ASDAN students have created a short digital book titled

“This Is Me: Celebrating Our Strengths.”

Today’s internal speech department training session by Ms. Krishna on “Neuroanatomical Differences in Autism” was very well presented and truly insightful. It was a refreshing topic, and we appreciate the effort put into bringing something new for all of us.

It was great to see the entire OT team actively participate. The discussion segment was especially engaging and added great value to the session. We also had a productive conversation about conducting more such collaborative presentations in the future to strengthen interdepartmental learning.

Thank you, Krishna, for such a wonderful presentation. đź’™

A tennis ball is tough—it requires significant pressure to keep that "mouth" open.

Phase 1 (Pinch Strength): The child has to use their non-dominant hand to squeeze the ball. This builds the arches of the hand.

Phase 2 (Fine Motor Precision): The dominant hand must coordinate a "pincer grasp" to slide the thin coin into a narrow slot.

Phase 3 (Bilateral Integration): Both hands must work in perfect opposition. If one lets go, the task fails.

When we strengthen the "bellows" (the lungs and lips), we see:
âś… Clearer words (less "muffled" speech).
âś… Longer sentences (more than 1-2 words at a time).
âś… Better feeding skills (stronger lip seal).

Most people see a child moving a wet tissue with a spoon. But look at the architecture of this task. A wet tissue is heavy, slippery, and unpredictable.

Phase 1 (Proprioception): The child has to judge the weight and resistance of the wet tissue.

Phase 2 (Visual-Motor Integration): They must steady their hand and eyes to keep the tissue balanced on the curve of the spoon.

Phase 3 (Midline Crossing): Moving from the bowl to the plate requires the brain to coordinate both sides of the body simultaneously.

"Clumsiness" is often a cry for more sensory input. When the brain doesn't receive clear signals from the joints and muscles, a child moves with uncertainty, often leading to bumps, falls, and frustration.

At BE, we don't just tell them to "be careful." We provide the Neuromuscular Feedback their nervous system is starving for. Once the brain can "see" the body, the coordination follows.

Children who struggle with precise hand movements may appear clumsy, avoid tasks that require fine control, or get frustrated easily.

At BE, we incorporate activities like this to strengthen precision and coordination—helping children gain control over their hands and build independence in daily activities.

If your child shows difficulty with tasks that require controlled hand movements or precision, it may help to assess their fine motor coordination.

Movement plays a key role in how a child is able to focus and participate in daily tasks.

Activities like this build:
• balance and coordination
• body awareness (knowing where the body is in space)
• control over movement and transitions

These are part of the body’s regulation system—which directly supports a child’s ability to sit, attend, and follow instructions.

When these skills are still developing, children may appear:
restless, easily distracted, or constantly on the move.

It’s not always about behavior or attention alone—
sometimes, the body is still learning how to organize itself.

At BE, we use structured movement activities to help children develop control, so they can be more ready for learning and daily routines.

If your child has difficulty sitting still, focusing, or transitioning between activities, it may be helpful to look at the underlying regulation and coordination skills.

At BE, we assess how your child moves, processes, and responds—and guide you on the next steps based on their needs.

You can message us to book a consultation or ask any questions.

If your child is a "precocious reader" but struggles to follow a simple 1-step direction, they might be experiencing the Hyperlexia Illusion. Their brain is hyper-focused on the visual symbol but hasn't yet linked it to the physical world.

At BE, we specialize in making language functional. We help your child move from "reading the room" to "understanding the people" in it.
