Thirteen years of Genesis. Thirteen years of trust, care, and community.

We’ve certainly grown over the past 13 years, and that’s because patients, friends, families, and partners have placed trust in our team and the gratitude we feel for that is huge.

Commitment to our community remains the same: provide compassionate care, listen with respect, and support every patient who walks through our doors.

Thank you to every patient, partner, friend, and family member who has been part of this journey. Your support has shaped the past thirteen years and continues to guide the years ahead.

Today marks World Autism Awareness Day, a global day established to increase understanding of autism and promote acceptance, inclusion, and support for autistic individuals and their families.

Raising awareness helps families recognise early signs, reduce stigma, and ensure children receive the support they need as early as possible. Early assessment and intervention can make a meaningful difference in communication, learning, and daily participation.

At Genesis, a multidisciplinary team supports families at every stage. The team provides:

• Developmental assessment and diagnosis
• Paediatric and specialist medical care
• Speech and language therapy
• Occupational therapy
• Behavioural and developmental support

The team has worked closely with families to guide children from early identification through therapy, treatment, and long-term support.

Every child deserves understanding, opportunity, and the right support to thrive.

Cloudy vision, glare from lights, or difficulty reading may signal cataracts.

Dr Millicent Grim, Specialist Ophthalmologist at Genesis, explains that a cataract forms when the natural lens inside the eye becomes cloudy. Clear vision then becomes difficult because light cannot pass through the lens in the usual way.

Modern cataract surgery offers a safe and effective solution. A surgeon removes the cloudy lens and places a clear artificial lens inside the eye. The procedure takes a short time, and most patients have noticed rapid improvement in vision after treatment.

Genesis offers complete eye care in one place. The team has provided consultations, diagnostic testing, cataract surgery, and full optical services.

Clear vision supports quality of life. Regular eye checks help protect long-term eye health.

Please book an eye assessment with the Genesis ophthalmology team if vision has changed or if cataracts may affect daily activities.

Please contact Genesis to schedule an appointment.

Periods of change and uncertainty can affect how children feel and behave. Anxiety, night terrors, and attachment concerns can sometimes appear when children feel unsettled or overwhelmed.

Laura Reid, one of our Occupational Therapists at Genesis, has explained how these responses often reflect a child’s effort to process new experiences or emotional stress. Sleep disruption, increased worry, or stronger attachment to caregivers can occur during these periods.

Support from trained professionals can help children understand emotions, develop coping strategies, and feel secure again. Occupational therapy and behavioural support focus on practical tools that help children participate more comfortably at home, at school, and in daily routines.

Families in Dubai have access to a multidisciplinary paediatric team at Genesis that includes occupational therapists, psychological therapists, and behavioural specialists.

Early support can help children and parents feel more confident and supported during challenging phases.

If your child has experienced anxiety, sleep disruption, or attachment concerns, please reach out to the Genesis paediatric team. The team will guide you and help you find the right support for your child.

Good health care does not begin with symptoms. A comprehensive Executive Health Check provides a clear picture of your health today and identifies risk factors before they develop into problems.

A structured assessment includes detailed laboratory testing, cardiac screening, imaging, and a full physician review. Clear explanations and practical guidance help patients understand results and plan next steps with confidence.

Many insurance policies include one Executive Health Check per year as part of active cover. Patients often miss this benefit simply because they do not realise it exists. Please review your policy and consider booking before the benefit period ends.

Preventive care protects long-term health, supports performance at work, and provides peace of mind for families.

Contact the team to enquire about the options for your health check.

Why the MenB Vaccine Matters- Meningococcal disease can develop quickly and can cause serious illness in children. Vaccination offers important protection.

Health authorities in the United Kingdom have reported a recent increase in meningococcal cases. These reports have renewed discussion about the MenB vaccine.

Key points for parents:

• Meningococcal B infection can lead to meningitis and bloodstream infection
• Infants and young children face higher risk
• The MenB vaccine helps reduce the risk of severe complications
• In many clinics, the vaccine is given at 2 months, 4 months, and 12 months
• Many parents remain unaware that this vaccine exists or when it should be given

A paediatric consultation can help families understand the timing and benefits of the MenB vaccine.

Please speak with the Genesis paediatric team to learn whether the MenB vaccine suits your child’s vaccination plan.

As March has drawn to a close, the Genesis team has wanted to shine a light on an important health awareness topic: Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.

Colorectal cancer affects the colon or re**um and remains one of the most common cancers worldwide. Early detection has allowed doctors to treat many cases very successfully. Screening has played a key role because early stages often show no symptoms.

Who should consider screening?

• Adults aged 45 years and older
• People with a family history of colorectal cancer or polyps
• People with inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis
• People with persistent symptoms such as blood in stool, ongoing abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss, or changes in bowel habits

Regular screening can detect polyps before they develop into cancer, which allows prevention as well as early treatment.

Prevention matters

Several lifestyle habits can help reduce risk:

• Diet rich in fibre, fruits, and vegetables
• Regular physical activity
• Maintaining a healthy body weight
• Limiting processed meat and alcohol
• Routine health screening

Please speak with a specialist

Genesis patients who wish to discuss screening or prevention can please book an appointment with our Consultant Gastroenterologist Dr Hossam Al-Hilou.

Dr Hossam has provides consultations, risk assessment, and appropriate screening to support early detection and long-term digestive health.

Early awareness, screening, and prevention can make a real difference.

Choice in skincare and treatments has grown rapidly. Many patients have felt overwhelmed by the number of products, trends, and online advice available today.

Dr Sophie Momen, one of our Consultant Dermatologists often hears the same concern during consultations: patients feel unsure which products or treatments truly help their skin.

Dr Sophie has encouraged a simpler and more structured approach. Dermatology care should focus on clear diagnosis, a small number of effective products, and treatments supported by strong medical evidence.

Evidence-based protocols guide each recommendation. Careful selection of ingredients, consistent routines, and medical guidance support healthier skin over time.
