Consultant Vascular Surgeon Dr Riza has shared advice in a short video about travel and the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

Long flights and extended car journeys have increased the risk of deep vein thrombosis, especially when dehydration occurs or when long periods of sitting limit blood flow in the legs.

Dr Riza advises several simple steps to support healthy circulation:

• Please hydrate well during non-fasting hours
• Please stand, walk, or stretch whenever possible during travel
• Please perform simple calf exercises while seated
• Please consider graduated compression stockings for longer journeys

Small actions have supported better circulation and have reduced the risk of blood clots during long trips.
