Fetal Pillow is a single use device that can be used to reduce the risks associated with CS when foetal head is deeply engaged.

FDS is a soft silicone balloon attached to a foldable base plate and is inserted vaginally below the foetal head and inflated using 60-120mls of saline using a 60ml syringe. As the balloon fills it gradually elevates the foetal head 3-4cms. The device only needs to be inflated till the head is delivered. (average 3.5 mins). Average time taken for insertion is 30secs.

The upward hydraulic pressure exerted by the balloon is evenly distributed (unlike when the head is pushed by an assistant). The base plate helps to stabilize the device and prevents it’s downward movement.
