Food for thought!
I have attended many CPR classes over the years, but was never told this…..
When you are alone and have a heart attack. What are you going to do then ?
A really good post that can't be shared often enough:
1. Take a 2 minute break and read this:
Let's say it's 5:25 pm and you're driving home after an unusually hard day's work.
2. You are really tired and frustrated.
All of a sudden your chest pains. They are starting to radiate in the arm and jaw. It feels like being stabbed in the chest and heart. You're only a few miles away from the nearest hospital or home.
3. Unfortunately you don't know if you can make it..
4. Maybe you've taken CPR training, but the person running the course hasn't told you how to help yourself.
5. How do you survive a heart attack when you're alone when it happens? A person who is feeling weak and whose heart is beating hard has only about 10 seconds before losing consciousness.
6. But you can help yourself by coughing repeatedly and very strongly! Deep breaths before every cough. Coughing should be repeated every second until you arrive at the hospital or until your heart starts to beat normally.
7. Deep breathing gives oxygen to your lungs and coughing movements boost the heart and blood circulation. Heart pressure also helps to restore a normal heartbeat. Here's how cardiac arrest victims can make it to the hospital for the right treatment
8. Cardiologists say if someone gets this message and passes it on to 10 people, we can expect to save at least one life.
9. FOR WOMEN: You should know that women have additional and different symptoms. Rarely have crushing chest pain or pain in the arms. Often have indigestion and tightness across the back at the bra line plus sudden fatigue.
Instead of posting jokes, you're helping save lives by spreading this message.

Ironman 70.3 Salalah

It’s been one week since I was racing in Salalah, Oman.
Plenty of time to reflect on the day and recover.
I have lots of people to thank. Firstly my husband who embraces he’s married to one crazy woman that’s driven in this sport of triathlon.
My coach, Scott and his coach Glyn who was on the ground in Salalah.
The physio’s, chiropractor, rehab PT that have put me back together! , ,

Those training partners, part of the tribe especially the girl power:

Of course I’m proud of my achievement but it wouldn’t happen without the hard work training and input from others. Nevertheless as a Sports Nutritionist I am also very happy with my own nutrition plan for this race & feel it was executed precisely.

I can say I loved the swim and the bike sections of the race, however the run requires constant negotiation with ones chimp ( .paradox)
I’m still laughing at some of the things my chimp was telling me and my response!

So just one day shy of 4 weeks and I’ll be racing again:3worldchampionship
🤞my chimp is more compliant😂

I’ve spent the last 36 hours reliving the accident I had on the Al Qudra track yesterday! I feel very lucky to have escaped with relatively little damage, albeit it is painful.
All I can say to my fellow cyclists out there, please be mindful of others cyclists and if you choose to make a u turn on the track LOOK IN BOTH DIRECTIONS FIRST🙏 I believe I have faired well because I value my health and am consistent in managing my health, wellbeing and fitness. My skeletal health is very good so I haven’t sustained more significant fractures only non displaced fracture of S4 & S5 (sacrum).

A moment alone to catch up
Having spent a busy couple of weeks with all my kids visiting to celebrate Christmas, I cannot deny I indulged myself this morning in a solo cycle with a coffee stop and to enjoy a moment of quiet and catch up with endless messages!
We all get busy and it is important to take time out from time to time. That space gives us time to stop and reflect on what is truly important.
