🤨 Do you relate to this?

🥹 One of the things I often hear from people with IBS is that they tried the low FODMAP diet before and it didn’t work. Now is it that they are a medical anomaly or that over 10 randomized controlled trials are incorrect about how good it is?

❤️ The low FODMAP diet process is amazing for most people with IBS. But it isn’t straight forward and these are some of the most common mistakes I see.

🙏 So you are not a medical anomaly- you just need help.

January Photo Dump 📸✨

1️⃣ Toilet selfie - because when you’re a mummy you live behind the camera otherwise (will work on this!).
2️⃣ Great podcast recording with (IBS and a touch of BJJ - not the obvious topic collaboration ha!) will share the recording when it it out.
3️⃣ New product launch - The IBS Flare-Up Tool Kit - amazing seeing so many of you use this already!
4️⃣ Becoming a Forbes Health Advisory Board Member for the third year in a row.
5️⃣ Many family outings in the amazing Dubai winter - this one capturing my husband regretting his late night out!
6️⃣ More good book feedback - glad to see so many enjoying it!
7️⃣ Our community group moved out of Facebook and onto a different private platform (anyone who has the Take Control course has access to this where you can ask questions and get supported with 24 hours!).
8️⃣ More gym sessions - super boring but with January being so busy I really did not have time for anything else.
9️⃣ Nice to meet UK trained RD Laura Wood in Dubai - she showed me around the amazing Longevity clinic .
🔟 Finally made it to the 🐪💛

🙏 Here is to a less busy but as enjoyable February.

🤨 If you think that you can work out food intolerances whilst still having random symptoms then think again.

😩 You need to be having no symptoms or a significant improvement in symptoms in order to get clear reactions and a diagnosis.

🫠🫠 Have you noticed that there is no consistency is what foods cause you symptoms?

🙋‍♀️ This is why I hate peoples being told to keep a food diary so they can see what the issue is🫠.

😐 Your symptoms can occur 4-48 hours after the food, because of the amount you had, the combination you had or even other factors like lack of sleep, movement and mental health - all of which make your gut more sensitive.

🙏 The good news is that there is a way to identify food triggers and if you would like to get professional help for this clarity then book in for an enquiry call via the link in my bio.

🙋‍♀️ Yes IBS can involve food intolerances but imagine you were not only able to identify these but you can also reverse them!

😊 My initial goal when working with IBS sufferers using the Take Control approach is symptom control. Once we have that we can then start to identify dietary triggers (if they have them). BUT then my favorite part is improving their tolerance because ultimately this is where you will get better gut health.

🫡 The good news is that all dietary intolerances can be at least improved in terms of how much of that food you can manage. And this is simply because a gut which is not as sensitive will not send poor signaling back to the brain to say that there is discomfort or pain. Not only this but when you eliminate other lifestyle triggers then you are no longer battling the accumulative effect.

🙋‍♀️ Did you know this?

😩 Sometimes it can feel like you are reacting to everything but that is not possible.

❤️ The good news is the food intolerances typically come in well defined groups and when you start to understand that it helps to identify the patterns more easily. The good news being that you will have a tolerance level even with your trigger foods.

🧐 Many people suffer with anxiety but only those who have the more severe forms will recognize this. Not realizing that anxiety is impacting your body (even in a small way) means that you will miss an opportunity to improve your IBS.

‼️ Symptoms of anxiety can include panic attacks but also having a dry mouth, changes in behavior (easily irritated), difficulty getting to sleep or staying asleep and issues concentrating.

🙋‍♀️ People we work with often see their gut impacted with things like being at work vs the weekend, the stress before a holiday or simply just getting out of the door in the morning.

🎉 The good news is that this impact on the gut can be directly targeted through specific exercises which allow you got about what is your normal day / life.
