Are you interested in strategy, partnerships, marketing and media, or event planning within a high-impact medtech project?

Do you want to contribute to one of the world’s leading student artificial heart teams beyond the technical side?

Join UNSW Mending Broken Hearts, a fast-paced, high-performing student engineering team and Vertically Integrated Project (VIP). In 2025, our ~30 member team proudly placed 1st internationally in Vienna, competing against teams from 10+ countries, and we’re aiming to develop even further this year!

We are recruiting for the following business teams:
• Sponsorships
• Marketing
• Events

We’re looking for motivated students who are keen to learn and contribute, with interests in business, marketing, communications, design, commerce, or related fields. No prior experience is required, just initiative and commitment!

Are you interested in applying engineering, science or medicine to a cutting edge medtech project?

Do you want to a part of one of the world’s top student artificial heart team?

Join UNSW Mending Broken Hearts, a fast paced and high performance student engineering team and Vertically Integrated Project (VIP). In 2025 our team proudly placed 1st internationally in Vienna against teams from 10+ countries, and we’re aiming to develop even further this year!

We’re recruiting for the following technical teams:
• Mechanical
• Electrical
• Software
• Biomaterials

We are looking for members that are passionate and willing to learn, including students from engineering, sciences (material, computer, etc), physics, medicine and more. Business team recruitment will also begin separate to technical team recruitment soon.

You have the choice of enrolling in 2026 as a VIP (Vertically Integrated Project) member or as extracurricular, it’s completely up to you!

We’re thrilled to share that the UNSW Mending Broken Hearts team has won 1st place at the 2025 Heart Hackathon in Vienna, Austria! 🏆🇦🇹

A huge thank you to the organisers at Heart Hackathon () and ISMCS, our sponsors (NSW Government Chief Scientist & Engineer, Engineers Australia, Abbott, and OneMD On Demand) and collaborators (Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, UNSW Tyree IHealthE, St Vincent’s Hospital Heart Health, ISMCS, Innovamed, and Ansys).

The UNSW Mending Broken Hearts team is heading to Vienna, Austria, for the 2026 International Heart Hackathon and ISMCS Conference! 🫀

Over the past year, we’ve made significant progress and innovations, with some of our biggest design changes yet across concept development, prototyping, and testing. We’re excited to showcase our new total artificial heart prototype on an international stage.

We’re especially grateful to our Academic Lead, Audrey Adji, for her guidance this year, and to our Academic Advisors Gabriel Matus Vázquez and Daming Zhang for their valuable insights. Looking ahead, the team is excited to continue growing with the support of Bernard Kornfeld next year.
