🌍 What drives IASIOS? As the field of interventional oncology evolves rapidly, IASIOS provides a framework to support its responsible growth through four core objectives:

We provide global quality assurance standards to help interventional oncologists deliver safe, effective, and standardised care as primary clinical providers.

From infrastructure to staffing and training, IASIOS supports the development of strong, sustainable IO service lines.

🎉We sincerely congratulate Kantonsspital Winterthur KSW on achieving IASIOS 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 status. This marks a major milestone, as it is the first hospital in Switzerland to receive this distinction, and the first in the country to achieve IASIOS accreditation.

Becoming a Centre of Excellence confirms that the hospital’s interventional oncology service and patient pathway meet both the core and extended criteria of the CIRSE Standards of Quality Assurance in Interventional Oncology. These standards provide a structured framework to support the highest level of patient care, along with the safety and efficiency of interventional procedures in cancer management. They are built around three pillars: staff and facilities, treatment planning and delivery, and safety and quality.

👏We celebrate PD Dr. Arash Najafi, Ms. Annmarie Monnard, Mr. Patrick Martin, Mr. Johannes Lauinger and the entire interventional radiology team for this outstanding achievement. Their facility represents state-of-the-art interventional oncology practice, driven by clear commitment to structured, high-quality patient care.

These Standards define a comprehensive framework to ensure the highest quality of care for cancer patients undergoing interventional procedures. Backed by over 40 national and international societies -including the European Cancer Organisation (ECO) - they represent the gold standard for IO services worldwide.

🛠 The Standards are divided into three key sections:

• Staff and Facilities (Standards 1–6)
• Treatment Planning and Delivery (Standards 7–9)
• Safety and Quality (Standards 10–13)

📌 These form the basis of the IASIOS accreditation process:

Meeting the core requirements earns the title of 𝘐𝘈𝘚𝘐𝘖𝘚 𝘈𝘤𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘊𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘦.

Meeting both core and extended requirements qualifies for 𝘐𝘈𝘚𝘐𝘖𝘚 𝘊𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘌𝘹𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 status.

📣 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱! Thank you for the incredible response to this year’s First Year Forward Grant. The level of interest has been truly impressive, and it is encouraging to see so many facilities ready to begin their IASIOS accreditation journey.

Over the next few weeks, all submissions will be reviewed by an independent review board. Five hospitals will be selected to receive full coverage of their IASIOS enrolment and first year membership fee. We will be sharing the official announcement of the selected facilities soon, so keep an eye out.
