Let's talk about Projection & Self-Awareness
Projection is such a human experience, and last time I checked we are still living on earth as a Human
It’s when something inside of us, like an old wound, unmet need, fears, or even a hidden gift, gets placed onto someone or something outside of us
We don’t always realise we’re doing it. It can look like strong reactions, which are never your finest moment, quick judgments, or feeling deeply triggered by another person’s behaviour, or actions
Projection doesn't mean you are a complete FK up! It isn't "bad" or "wrong" but it does require you to meet yourself with absolute honesty
It’s often just the psyche asking to be seen!
A mirror saying, “There is something here for you to look at.”
Self-awareness is the light we bring to that mirror
It’s the moment we stop and ask ourselves
Why did this affect me so much?
What part of me feels hurt, unseen, or afraid right now?
Instead of pushing the feeling away or blaming outwardly, we turn inward with curiosity rather than criticism
On my own journey, I’ve noticed times where I’ve projected feelings of not being good enough, not being fully understood or even feelings of being unlovable just by breathing. Moments where another person’s words or actions stirred something inside me, not because of them alone, but because a younger part of me was still seeking safety, validation, or love
Through my practices such as breathwork, ceremony, and deep inner work, I began to realise my patterns, I still am working on this. Childhood triggers will take you there and tell you there is more 😵💫
Self-awareness became less about “fixing” myself and more about meeting myself.
Meeting little Kristy, the wounded parts, and also the powerful, wise aspects of me that were waiting to be acknowledged
When we choose awareness, we move from reaction to remembrance
remembering our wholeness,
our responsibility for our energy,
and our capacity to respond with compassion instead of defence (which can be flipping hard at times!)
It’s not about perfection or getting it "right" every single time but it is about presence and being honest with yourself!
With love,
Kristy 🌿✨❤️
