Noticing your posture changing during pregnancy? 🤰
You’re not imagining it!

As your baby grows, your upper back naturally rounds a little more, your lower back arches a little deeper, and your centre of gravity shifts to balance your bump.

✨ Pilates is a wonderful (and safe!) way to support these changes — helping you build strength through your upper and lower back, improve posture, and feel more comfortable as your body adapts.

All of our classes are run by physiotherapists, who can show you simple exercises to take home — so you can continue feeling the benefits of Pilates between sessions.

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) refers to the bulging or dropping of one or more of the pelvic organs (bladder, bowel or uterus) into the va**nal canal or outside of the va**na. The pelvic organs are held high within the pelvic cavity and supported by the pelvic floor muscles, ligaments and fascia. Prolapse occurs when these muscles, ligament and fascia become weakened or damaged.

✨ Child’s Pose Stretch ✨
A beautiful movement to gently open through your spine and calm your body 🌸

Key points:
👣 Feet together, knees out wide (and wider, and wider 🤰😅)
🍑 Sit your bottom back towards your heels (or as close as you can)
🤲 Reach your arms forward and let your chest melt down towards the ground
💨 Take a few slow, deep, controlled breaths here before sitting back up

These are general exercises and are provided as a guide only. They should not cause any pain or discomfort and may not be suitable for everyone. Please speak with your physiotherapist to make sure they’re right for you! 💕

Here’s the reminder you didn’t know you needed 💕

After having your little one — and no matter how you’re feeding your baby — make sure you get properly fitted for a bra. 👙

Your rib cage expands, your breasts change, and chances are… your current bra isn’t giving your ladies the support they deserve!

Your tight, tired upper back will thank you for the extra love and support. 🫶

💬 “I had a c-section, so I don’t need to worry about my pelvic floor.”

🚫 False!

Pregnancy alone is a risk factor for pelvic floor dysfunction — not just va**nal birth.

Other contributing factors include:
✨ Genetics
✨ Multiple pregnancies
✨ Obesity
✨ Chronic cough or constipation
✨ Repetitive heavy lifting
✨ Connective tissue disorders (like Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome)

A C-section is major abdominal surgery — it involves cutting through seven layers of tissue. This affects core recovery and pelvic support.

Scar tissue can also:
⚡️ Contribute to pelvic pain
⚡️ Affect bladder control
⚡️ Cause discomfort during in*******se
⚡️ Make it harder to activate deep core muscles
⚡️ Even irritate nearby nerves

So yes — even after a C-section, your pelvic floor still deserves some love and attention. 💕

🤰 Lower back pain in pregnancy — why does it happen?

It’s so common to experience lower back pain during pregnancy, but the reasons aren’t always straightforward. Some of the main causes include:

✨ An increase in the curve of your lower back as your belly grows (hello, shifting centre of gravity!)
✨ Hormonal changes that make your ligaments more “lax” as your body prepares for labour
✨ A period of reduced physical activity (we see you, first trimester survival mode 💤)
✨ Postural changes that place extra load on your lower back

The important thing to remember? 👉 These changes are a normal part of pregnancy. Your belly has to grow, your pelvis tilts forward, and yes—your posture will adapt.

But you don’t have to put up with the discomfort. We’re here to support you with strategies and techniques to help relieve pain and keep you moving through pregnancy with more ease 💕
