Happy International Women's Day!

We're so proud and lucky to have such a strong team of amazing women here at Your Best Self Allied Health. These wonderful women are all shining examples of hard-work, kindness, determination and selflessness in everything they do for their clients.

These women come from many stages of life - from early career OT's and Speechie's, to Mum's juggling raising young families with work, to those with teenage and young adult children. We're so proud of each and every one of them for juggling work with their own stage of life, and thank them for all that they do!

Mobile OT, Speech & Physio across Adelaide!

We often get asked about the finer details of how Mobile OT, Speech and Physio work, and what areas we can help children with.

It's simple - we see children in the real world where it suits you best, whether this be at home, school kindy or childcare! 🚗

This makes regular therapy less intrusive on the lives of parents and children - no more carting them off to a clinic after school every week!

It also lets us build their functional skills and abilities in the environments they spend their time in, and lets us see the real challenges they face in the places the spend their time. 🤸‍♀️

We can then work on developing the real skills they need to thrive at home, school or anywhere in between!

We're so excited to welcome our newest Occupational Therapist Jenni to the team!

Jenni comes to us with experience working with children of all ages and abilities, and has an energy and enthusiasm for working with kids that we love! She brings some lived experience of a family member living with a physical disability, so has insight into the challenges and needs that many children face growing up with disability.

Outside of work, Jenni loves spending time outdoors being active or with her favourite boy in the world, her Cocker Spaniel Lenny. We're so glad to have Jenni on board and know all of her new clients will love working with her.

The NDIA have recently made changes to pricing arrangements which significantly impact on the ability for participants to receive the therapy and care they need and deserve.

As allied health professionals working within the NDIS, we dedicate our days to supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community. We show up in homes, schools, and community settings—not because it’s easy, but because we believe everyone deserves access to quality therapy and support.

But now, we need your support.

The NDIA have announced:

🛑 A $40 fee reduction for physiotherapy.
🛑 They are halving travel fee reimbursement for all allied health professionals.
🛑 The NDIS has not increased therapy fees in line with inflation for 6 years, despite rising operational costs.

These changes directly contradict the NDIS’s own messaging about the importance of therapy being delivered in the community. And the impact will be devastating:
• Many providers will be forced to close.
• Therapists will leave the sector for less stressful, better paying work.
• Already long waitlists will blow out even further.
• Participants, many of whom cannot access the community will lose essential supports.

The message this sends is clear: that the system no longer values the work we do, or the people we support.
We’re calling on our community, our clients, our families, and our fellow Australians, please help us advocate. The NDIS was built on the principles of inclusion, equality, and access. We cannot let short-sighted decisions unravel that.

We also encourage you to write to your local Member of Parliament directly urging for these changes to be stopped and reviewed. We know that MP's must review and log all letters & emails written to them, so your voice does count and matter in this.

🐾 Meet Sussan – Our New Speechie! 🐾
We’re super excited to welcome Sussan, one of our newest Speech Pathologists joining the Be Yourself Therapy team this April! 🎉
Sussan will be supporting families across the Northern and western suburbs — from Munno Para through to Glenelg (and everywhere in between!) 🚗✨
When she’s not busy helping little ones find their voices, Sussan loves:
🎲 Playing games
📚 Getting lost in a good book
🍳 Cooking up something tasty
And get this… Sussan’s Siberian Husky, Buddy, knows how to use talking buttons! 🤯🐶 Speechie skills don’t stop at humans — Sussan has put her talents to use teaching Buddy to communicate his needs with talking buttons!
When we asked why she became a speechie, Sussan shared:
"I wanted to make a positive difference in people’s lives. Seeing clients progressing and reaching their goals puts a smile on my face!" 💛
