Welcoming Ashton to the Brain Matters Team!
Ashton completed a Bachelor of Psychology with First Class Honours at the University of South Australia in 2019 before completing a Master of Psychology (Clinical) at Australian Catholic University in New South Wales. Ashton has experience providing psychological assessment and therapy to children, adolescents and adults across a range of settings. Some of Ashton’s clinical experience includes supporting people with depression and anxiety, grief and loss, mood difficulties and emotional dysregulation. Alongside Ashton’s experience in a psychology setting, she has also previously worked as an apprenticeship mental health counsellor for people struggling with work related stress. Whilst studying, Ashton worked as a support worker assisting people living with psychosocial disability and volunteered as an accredited crisis supporter with Lifeline. Building strong therapeutic relationships is central to Ashton’s approach. Sessions focus on creating a safe, collaborative space where clients feel supported to explore challenges and develop practical strategies for change. Ashton enjoys working with adults and adolescents and aims to provide thoughtful, individualised care tailored to each person’s needs. Ashton utilises many evidence-based treatment approaches, including but not limited to cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and compassion-focused therapy (CFT). Outside of work, Ashton enjoys spending time with family and friends and going to the beach.
