This one’s a simple one…when we feel low, our instinct is to surround ourselves with things that affirm those feelings. For me, this includes sad music, movies that’ll make me cry, or reading sad quotes.

So, let’s build a “laughter folder” where you save things that’ll make you laugh! This could be funny memes, TikTok’s, or YouTube videos! Anything that can lift your mood on those sad days…

Actually, our brain is on autopilot ALL THE TIME. Are you consciously breathing or balancing or processing your food? Or are you consciously blinking your eyes or changing your facial expressions?

Mindfulness means being present in the moment and one of the easiest ways to do this is to connect to your body. This can be done by simply bringing your attention to parts of your body multiple times throughout the day…

✨ WELCOME TO MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH!!

Each day this month, we’ll be posting a useful mental health tip!

Time for a simple GROUNDING SKILL. What even is that, you may ask? Well, grounding skills help bring us back to the present moment. These can be super helpful if we’re lost in our head or finding it hard to focus.

This one’s called 5 SENSES. It’s more efficient if you can STIMULATE YOUR SENSES instead of just noticing, but either is helpful to ground us to the here and now.

Here’s how: I want you to notice (or stimulate)…
-5 things you can see (that you didn’t notice before)
-4 things you can touch (or would feel different to each other)
-3 things you can hear (or would make a sound)
-2 things you can smell (or would have a distinct scent)
-1 thing you can taste (or would have a distinct taste)

✨ WELCOME TO MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH!!

Each day this month, we’ll be posting a useful mental health tip!

Today, we’re GIVING BACK to our community. Have you ever done something nice for a stranger? This could be something simple like holding the door for them, or something larger like paying for their coffee… if so, how’d it feel? And if not, how would you feel if someone did that for you?

That’s right, you’d probably feel all the good chemicals…happy, thankful, grateful…

Interestingly, when we do something nice for someone else, we also get a dose of those feel good chemicals! How cool is that!?

So, let’s give that feeling to someone else today and in turn, give it to ourselves too!

✨ WELCOME TO MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH!!

Each day this month, we’ll be posting a useful mental health tip!

One goal. Just one thing each day to tick off your list. Maybe you can build up and aim for adding a new goal each day. But let’s focus first on just one.

Sometimes we can get overwhelmed by our never-ending-to-to-list. Or sometimes we simply can’t find the motivation to get out of bed. So on these days, let’s just focus on one thing.

This is a very simple skill that can help to get our life back on track. Like always, (spoiler alert) magic doesn’t happen overnight like the movies, so sometimes we need to take baby steps to head to the life we wanna live!
