Last weekend was truly a weekend of love for our BET family.

In Adelaide, South Australia, our very own Jordan Newsham from the Adelaide office sealed his love story with his beautiful bride Pippa in a vibrant and joy-filled celebration. Love was in the air, smiles were endless, and hearts were full as they began this new chapter together.

Meanwhile, 12,000 kilometres away in Nairobi, our Wodonga team member Francine said “I do” to her beloved Bien in a stunning city reception marked by elegance, joy, and deep affection.

As if that wasn’t special enough, the couple received the sweetest surprise when our Managing Director Bernard Tanui and CEO Emily Tanui, who happened to be in the country, travelled over 350 kilometres to make a surprise appearance at their wedding. Love truly went the extra mile.

It was a weekend that reminded us of what truly matters — love, commitment, and family.

Congratulations to Jordan & Pippa and Francaine & Bienvenue. We celebrate with you, share in your joy, and wish you a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and grace in your marriage.

Last week our CEO Emily Korir spent time in New York.
What unfolded during her visit has been nothing short of remarkable. It was a series of moments she will carry with her for a lifetime. One of the most unforgettable highlights was seeing her image displayed on a billboard in Times Square. It was a profound and emotional milestone, especially considering her journey from the slums of Nakuru, Kenya, to one of the world’s most iconic locations. Her story continues to stand as a testament to faith, resilience, and unyielding determination.

The entrepreneurial path is rarely smooth, but she continues to rise above every challenge with purpose and conviction. Each obstacle has shaped her leadership and strengthened her vision for BET Group Global.

Her time in New York also opened doors to meaningful conversations with Netflix, her agent, her publisher, and her mentor. These engagements reflect not only how far she has come, but also the immense potential of what lies ahead.

On the face of BET this week we profile Maria Shapovalova.
Maria is the heart of BET Group Global’s People & Culture function. As an experienced HR professional, she leads with both empathy and precision driving disciplinary and performance management processes, overseeing complex investigations and ensuring that BET’s workforce practices remain both procedurally fair and fully compliant.
Maria plays a pivotal role in aligning organisational HR strategies with the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), the SCHADS Award, and the NDIS Practice Standards across multiple states. She regularly manages staff conduct issues, including preparing formal letters, leading disciplinary meetings, and ensuring fair and consistent processes are followed. Alongside her focus on compliance and risk mitigation, Maria oversees recruitment, onboarding, workforce development, and staff engagement. She is also the creative mind behind many of BET’s internal initiatives, helping to embed the organisation’s values of Care, Collaboration, Accountability, Innovation, and Respect.
Maria holds formal qualifications in Human Resources and proudly serves on the South Australian Divisional Council of the Australian Institute of Training & Development (AITD), where she contributes to shaping professional development opportunities and promoting best practice learning across the sector.
At BET Group Global, Maria brings this same commitment to her everyday work. Whether she’s welcoming new team members, updating workplace policies, supporting performance processes, or quietly keeping operations running smoothly behind the scenes, Maria is focused on making BET a great place to work where values like care, collaboration, respect and accountability are more than just words, but part of how things are done and we are proud to unveil her as our face of BET for this week.

Some nights ago in Adelaide, South Australia;
We gathered to bring together friends and supporters for a meaningful cause of raising funds for the groundbreaking of The Accessible Respite Centre in Eldoret, Kenya.

It was also the perfect occasion to launch our CEO Emily Korir’s inspiring new book, Leading Against All Odds.

The evening was filled with laughter, connection, and purpose, culminating in a heartfelt fundraiser to kickstart this life-changing project.

The journey ahead is still long and will require continued support, but we are thrilled to have taken the first step.

We’ll soon share the date for the groundbreaking in Eldoret, and we can’t wait to see you there!
