The Gender Affirming Surgery Research Group are recruiting!

The Gender Affirming Surgery Research Group is affiliated with the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) and Flinders University, focusing on coordinating and conducting collaborative, multidisciplinary research to support safe, effective, and equitable access to gender-affirming surgical care in Australia.

Gender Affirming Surgery Research Group are calling for expressions of interest for their two studies: a survey study on health outcomes of gender affirming surgery, and our interview study which aims to understand the experience of people waiting to access gender affirming surgery.

🩵Survey study - involves surveys about your health and wellbeing of life at the start of the study, and at 3, 6 and 12 months. $10 of reimbursement is provided in the form of vouchers to your email at each survey time point.

🩷Interview study - involves a virtual or in person 1 on 1 interview with the lead researcher, discussing your experiences of waiting to access gender affirming care. $100 of reimbursement is provided in the form of a voucher to your email after the interview.

ATTENTION - MY HEALTH RECORD ISSUE!

ISSUE RE MY HEALTH RECORD NOT SHOWING GENDER CORRECTLY!

Some folks may be aware that My Health Record is not displaying the correct gender for some people. For many this can be found by digging deep into documents, medication dispensing records etc even if you had already updated your records.

This is the result of an update across multiple systems, which the Australian Digital Health Agency and other relevant agencies are working to rollback. Communication on this issue is being channeled via LGBTIQ+ Health Australia and connected organisations.

If your My Health Record profile displays incorrect gender, please report the incident as soon as possible to the My Health Record Helpline on 1800 723 471, available 24 hours, 7 days.

This issue is not Census related and the systems and processes for these datasets are completely separate.

In 2018, we launched the first ever Australian Trans & Gender Diverse Sexual Health Survey. With data from thousands of trans and gender diverse people across the country, this survey provided vital new information to best support the sexual health of our communities.

IMPORTANT CHANGE TO PRIMOTESTON

Bayer International has made a decision that impacts all supplies of Primoteston including Australian supply.

Bayer has reduced the supply of their product changing the amount of medication received per dispense from three(3) pre-filled doses down to one(1) per box.

We have been made aware of some chemists already dispensing supply of the 1-dose boxes and that prices are only slightly lower than the 3-dose boxes. Bayer has been made aware of this and are following this up but no changes from cost review is guaranteed.

FREE ONLINE INFORMED CONSENT PRESCRIBING TRAINING!

This live facilitated two-part course provides clinicians the knowledge and confidence to prescribe gender affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) based on the needs of their patient population utilising an informed consent model. Additionally, supporting clinicians to create a gender affirming practice and establishing a business model for ongoing financial sustainability.

Wednesday May 7 and Thursday May 8 from 6.30-7.30 aest.

This is a CPD Accredited Activity for 5.5 Educational Activity and 2 Reviewing Performance hours under the RACGP CPD Program for the 2023-2025 triennium. It is also accredited for 4 PDP hours under the ACRRM 2023-2025 triennium.
