Today is Pitt Hopkins day.

Today we celebrate my beautiful, bright, bubbly, little ray of sunshine niece, Elizabeth.

Elizabeth is pretty much sunshine in human form. She is always giggling, joyfully playing and making others around her smile. Everyone who’s been lucky enough to meet her would attest that when you’re around her, you feel this instant gooey feeling of love and joy! She’s the absolute best and a beautiful blessing to our family!

Elizabeth was born with this very rare genetic, neurological disorder called Pitt Hopkins syndrome. Because of its rarity, there is very little research available and lots of unknowns for our sweet and mighty Elizabeth and her incredibly strong parents, Michael & Michelle Rogers

With the help of her parents, Elizabeth has shown incredible strength and growth as she works through the many challenges she’s faced with on a daily.

There is no cure for Pitt Hopkins and research is so valuable for Elizabeth and children like Elizabeth who are living with Pitt Hopkins.

In celebration of Elizabeth and to bring awareness to Pitt Hopkins and Pitt Hopkins day; from the 18th September 2021 to the 30th October 2021, Mrs Beauty and Motherly by Michelle will be donating $10 for every 1 hour treatment booked or 1 hour voucher bought.

Words are so incredibly important.

I am so grateful to be an Aunty to two beautiful children, soon to be three beautiful children in December. But after going through a second early miscarriage recently I found myself stuck in the thought that I’m ‘Always an Aunty - Never a Mum’. I had to stop myself. And remind myself how incredibly important words are.

Over the past five years I’ve battled the very real, very big emotions around wanting to have a baby, losing two babies and watching friends and family all around me have babies. There have been many hard days and lessons.

I’ve never once wanted to have a baby instead of someone but every time wished, prayed, begged that we could be pregnant together. That feeling is a lonely place. Especially because it’s a quick reminder to the reality that you have absolutely zero control of whether that will happen or not.

But in all of the things I have zero control of, I quickly learnt that the only two things I do have control of, is my attitude and my actions (which happen to include my words). This can be a dangerous place when you don’t know balance though. I’ll share more on this one day.

I realized that we can sometimes accidentally and more importantly purposely give power to words. So I had my cry, my heart hurt a lot and I pulled myself out of giving any power to ‘Always an Aunty - Never a Mum’ and gave power to ‘Right now an Aunty - One Day a Mum’.

If you’re feeling down about something at the moment, I hope that you know this.

💚You are loved. 💚You are safe. 💚You are strength.

If you know this pain of wanting to have a baby and the pain of losing a baby. I see you. I feel you. I am so sorry you know this pain, but know that you are not alone.

My drive and love for Motherly by Michelle has been a huge part of my heartbreak in my journey to motherhood. I have spent a lot of time learning to heal and have found that womb & fertility massage has played a huge role in healing.

Know that you are loved. You are safe. You are strength. 💚🌻💚🌻
