The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) acts like a hinge for your jaw, letting you speak, chew, and smile - but sometimes it doesn’t move as smoothly as it should. TMJ disorders can cause jaw pain, stiffness, clicking, or headaches.

Chiropractic care focuses on supporting jaw alignment, easing muscle tension, and improving joint mobility. By encouraging balanced movement in the TMJ and surrounding muscles, chiropractic may help reduce discomfort and improve daily function.

Chiropractic Insight 🌀

Think of your spine as your body’s main highway — when traffic flows smoothly, everything runs better. A balanced spine = a balanced life. Each vertebra, joint, and muscle works together to keep signals from your nervous system zipping efficiently to the rest of your body.

Chiropractic care isn’t just about easing aches; it’s about keeping your highway clear. Gentle adjustments and movement guidance help joints move freely, muscles coordinate, and posture stay strong, supporting overall wellness and daily function.

So whether you’re bending, lifting, or just sitting at your desk, a well-aligned spine can make movement feel easier and more comfortable.

How do you keep your spine in top gear? Share your tips below 👇 let’s keep each other moving smoothly!

Word of the Day: Juvenile Arthritis 🦴

/ˈdʒuːvənᵻl ɑːˈθraɪtɪs/

From Latin juvenilis meaning “youthful” + Greek arthron (“joint”) + -itis (“inflammation”). Put together, it literally means “inflammation of the joints in youth.”

Juvenile Arthritis (JA) is an umbrella term for various inflammatory and rheumatic conditions affecting children under 16. Symptoms can include joint pain, swelling, and stiffness, which may fluctuate in intensity and location.

Our chiropractors (working alongside paediatric healthcare teams) focus on supporting joint mobility, posture, and musculoskeletal function to help children move more comfortably and maintain normal development. While JA can’t be cured, early assessment and supportive care can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.

Squat Your Way Through December! 🏋️‍♀️☀️

Feeling festive? Let’s squat it out! Squats aren’t just for gym buffs - they’re one of the best ways to build strength in your legs, glutes, and core, keeping you sturdy for everyday life (and all that Christmas feasting 🍪🎄).

The science? Squats engage multiple muscle groups, improve joint stability, and boost balance — helping you stand taller, move easier, and reduce the risk of injury. Even small, consistent sessions can make a difference.

Try sneaking in squats while waiting for the kettle to boil, or during a festive TV binge. Every rep counts!

How are you adding a little squat power to your December? Share below 👇 or call us to talk about safe ways to strengthen your body this season. 💚

Low back pain - it’s one of the most common reasons people visit a chiropractor, and for good reason!

Your lumbar spine carries much of your body’s weight and acts like the hinge for nearly every move you make. When joints stiffen, discs become irritated, or muscles fatigue, your back can quickly let you know about it.

Here’s how chiropractic care may help:
🌀 Manual adjustments aim to restore spinal motion and reduce pressure on irritated joints.
💪 Core stability training helps build a muscular “corset” to support and protect the lumbar spine.
📦 Education on lifting and daily movement teaches smarter ways to bend, twist, and carry so you’re not stuck repeating the same painful cycle.

Your back works hard - give it the support it deserves. Call us or go online to book an appointment with the chiropractors!

Your spine wakes up stiff for a reason - here’s how to help it stretch into the day.

When you sleep, the discs between your vertebrae act like little sponges. They rehydrate overnight, pulling in fluid to cushion and protect your spine. That’s why you might feel a bit taller in the morning - but also a bit stiffer. The extra fluid means your discs are plumper, so your back isn’t quite ready for heavy lifting or twisting straight out of bed.

Gentle movement is your best morning coffee for the spine. A short walk, light stretches, or gentle spinal twists help redistribute fluid, improves alignment, and prepares your spine for the day ahead.

Want your mornings to feel less creaky? Chat to us during your next appointment and we’ll give you some tailored movements you can do each day to help your spine move and function as it should.

Did you know that your spinal cord fires off over 100 million nerve impulses every second? It’s like a lightning-fast Wi-Fi router keeping your whole body online. ⚡️📡

Each message controls something: moving your toes, digesting lunch, even regulating your heartbeat. 🦶🍝❤️ It’s the ultimate command centre.

But here’s the kicker - if your spine’s out of alignment, it’s like a kinked garden hose or a traffic jam, the messages still try to get through, but not as smoothly as they should.

Keeping your spine in line = clear signals, better movement, and a system that runs like a well-oiled machine. 🛠️

🥗 Fuel Your Recovery!

Healing doesn’t stop at the clinic - what you eat plays a huge role in rehabilitation. Protein, vitamin C, and zinc help repair tissues, while staying hydrated supports circulation and reduces inflammation.

Busy schedule? Simple meals like a chicken and veggie stir-fry, a smoothie with fruit and protein, or eggs on wholegrain toast can pack a punch for recovery ⚡.

Think you need only “superfoods” or strict diets to heal? That’s a myth. Consistent, balanced nutrition is the key.

Ever had pain shoot from your lower back all the way down your leg? That’s not just a cranky leg or a sore back - it may be sciatica.

Here’s the science-y bit (don’t worry, there’s no exam at the end): the sciatic nerve is the longest and thickest in your body, about as thick as your thumb. It begins in the lumbar spine, passes through your hips and glutes, and runs down each leg. When it gets irritated or compressed - by a bulging disc, spinal stenosis, or even a tight piriformis muscle - it can trigger pain, tingling, or numbness along its pathway.

Fun fact: the ache in your leg often isn’t from the leg at all—the root cause usually lies higher up in the spine or pelvis.

So if you’re thinking sciatica may be what you’re experiencing, let’s get you in the clinic and figure out the next best steps. Contact us today to book your consultation.

📖 Word of the Day: Intervertebral (Disc)

Your spine’s unsung heroes? The intervertebral discs. The word comes from Latin: inter (“between”) + vertebra (“joint of the spine”). Quite literally, they’re the discs between the vertebrae.

Each disc has a tough outer ring (annulus fibrosus) and a gel-like core (nucleus pulposus) — think of it like a jelly doughnut 🍩: the outside holds everything together, while the inside cushions and absorbs shock. When discs dry out, bulge, or herniate, they can irritate nerves, causing pain, tingling, or weakness 😣

Chiropractors assess how your spine moves, aiming to keep your discs healthy and your nerves happy. Your spine not feeling its happiest? Call us to make an appointment with us today and let’s aim to change that.
