Have you ever made resolutions to change for the better but let fear get in the away of achieving success?

Too often we set long term goals for ourself but stop before we can even begin as we fear the thought of failing.

Whenever I discuss goal setting with clients I always advise them to start small.

Setting short term goals allows you to stay focused, see changes and realise what you are capable of.

Refusing to challenge yourself is its own form of failure.

Let me know how you deal with fear and achieve your goals by commenting below!

🫘🥬🥩 IRON 🥩🥬🫘

Did you know lack of iron is one of the most common micronutrient deficiencies a dietitian sees 🤔

When our body doesn’t absorb enough iron from our diet we can feel weak, tired and short of breath. This is because iron helps carry oxygen throughout our body.

Life is extremely busy and I have been one to blame my symptoms on overworking. But there could be more to the story and it is worth booking an appointment with your doctor to get your iron levels checked!

To learn more about how to optimise your iron intake and levels to stay healthy, reach out to me for a chat ☺️

Going in to the weekend I thought I would remind you to not only think of food as fuel but appreciate all the moments that surround it. Enjoy the non-sugar free chocolate, the piece of birthday cake or the few slices of pizza 🍫🍰🍕

Deprivation is not the way to live and can be harmful to your mental and physical health🙅🏼‍♀️ You should listen to your body on what it needs, not base your food intake solely on what you have already eaten or how much you have exercised.

Also take some time to rest and recover!!! I will be definitely trying to take more of my own advice on this one 😅

If you would like some guidance from an accredited dietitian, send me a message!

Carbohydrates are too often labelled the enemy with countless diets promoting a low carb approach.

If you are someone like me who enjoys all things bread, rice, pasta and potatoes continue reading to learn why we need to include carbs in our diet!

1️⃣ Carbohydrates are our bodies preferred energy source helping fuel vital organs including the brain

2️⃣ Carbohydrate intake before exercise can help improve training performance as it tops up glycogen stores and extends the length before you fatigue

3️⃣ Carbohydrate intake post exercise can promote recovery as it replenishes energy and glycogen stores

4️⃣ Carbohydrate intake can help prevent muscle breakdown as protein won’t be needed as an energy source. This allows protein to focus on repairing and rebuilding muscle tissue

To learn more about how to eat for your needs, get in contact with me to discuss how I can help you ☺️

🥜 GO NUTS FOR NUTS 🥜

Nuts have many benefits and are a great source of protein, healthy fats and fibre.

A handful a nuts (30g) is recommended everyday for heart health as it reduces your risk of heart disease.

Next time you are wanting a snack, go for a handful of nuts! Swipe to see what a serve is 😊

3 WAYS TO INCREASE YOUR PROTEIN INTAKE 💪🏼

Protein has many important roles including maintaining and building lean muscle mass.

1️⃣ Ensure at each main meal a ¼ of your plate is a protein rich food such as meat, poultry, fish, eggs, tofu, lentils and beans

2️⃣ Include a protein rich food with each snack. For example eating fruit with yoghurt/nuts/nut butter/seeds or eating wholegrain crackers with cheese/nut butter/hummus

3️⃣ Add Greek yoghurt, nut butter and/or chia seeds to your smoothie
