I switched out the keys in high school, deciding that it was no longer ‘cool’ and I got my first electric guitar at 16. I was obsessed. I had dreams of becoming a rockstar and spent my evenings tucked away in my bedroom listening to Guns n Roses and Motley Crue CDs on repeat. I studied music at high school, joined the school band and sat (extremely nervously may I add) for my music exams.

Creating and playing music supported me through the highs and very extreme lows. When I lost a dear friend at such a young age- music was my comfort blanket, my way of processing the unfathomable. It created a safe space for me to feel and move through my emotions.

And although the rockstar dream has changed course, one thing remains true to my heart. The importance of having a safe space to feel, to connect inwards with myself and my emotions.

And this is why we created Clear Colours.
To be that container, that sacred space for ourselves and others. Holding space to soften, to let go and simply just be with yourself fully, however that looks on that given day.

Because, my golly, it’s been a savior for me.

The big question – how is sound a healing modality?

“When the system becomes more regulated, the body can do what it already knows how to do - repair, adapt and find balance.”

These words from Natalie Brown sum it up beautifully.

But first, let’s get one thing straight.
It’s not Daniel and I doing the healing. We are not healers. What we do is create an environment using sound - one that supports the body to do what it already knows how to do.

So what does healing actually mean here?
In this context, it’s about the body shifting into a more regulated state - a place where repair, adaptation and balance can naturally occur.
Things can get very science-y from here, but in simple terms, it’s the way sound and frequency interact with the nervous system that encourages this shift.

So yes, sound can be deeply supportive - by helping us relax, settle, and come back into balance.
And this is why creating space in our busy lives matters so much. It gives the body the chance to do its thing.

Ever feel like there’s this under lying feeling of ‘keeping up’? The constant hum of the phone reminding us what everyone else is doing. Being convinced of the ‘ideal’ through media and opinions.

Through this haze, it can be hard to tune in to what actually lights us up, what we actually want to create within our own lives, what actually feels authentic to us.
The confusion and bombardment of the external noise, well, it can be a lot.

Have we done enough?
Do we have enough?
Are we enough..?

When we lose sight of our North Star, our guiding light, it can feel unsettling and confusing, like being tumbled around in a washing machine. Which way do I go? Is this right for me?

To come back to ourselves is an embrace of stillness, of quietude. To feel the gentle nudges that the body is signalling. To hear the quiet whispers that unveil the path.

So instead of feeling the pressure to achieve more, have more, be more… what if we stripped back the layers, the external seeking, and turned our focus within. Within the stillness, within the silence.

May this new year not solely be based upon new things to add to the list, but rather a gentle return back to ourselves.
We are already whole.

As the end of the year calls upon reflections and gratitude, Daniel and I wanted to share our deepest thanks to you all.

Thank you for showing up for yourself.
Thank you for taking time in your busy schedule for rest.
Thank you for giving yourself the selfcare you deserve.
Thank you for putting yourself first.

We are beyond grateful for the growth we’ve had this year. We have held the most amount of sound baths - which goes to show how much we are all craving a moment to pause and slow down. We recorded our first album ‘Of Thoughts & Seconds’. And we had the joy and honour of holding space for the beautiful community through the power of sound.

Our intention for Clear Colours from the start, has been to create spaces that foster rest, nourishment and a sacred space to re-connect in with ourselves.
It has been an absolute delight to meet new faces and re-connect with familiar ones, and we are so grateful for each and every one of you.

And as we ‘practice what we preach’, we are taking a gentle pause. Playing music together and getting lost in the days. Dreaming up our sound offerings for next year. We will be hosting our first sound event early in the new year – more to come on that soon.

We look forward to sharing more slow, intentional moments with you next year 💫

All our love
Daniel and Hayley x

As I sit with these thoughts, I invite you to muse upon them with me…

To give something our full attention, is to give something our energy. So if our attention is all over the place, our energy leaks all over the place too, leaving us feeling scattered, depleted, overwhelmed.

So, what if next time when we sit down to work, or when we have a conversation with a friend- instead of multitasking, we gave our full attention to the thing we are currently doing?
How would it feel to be fully present with the task at hand?

It’s a process, and trust me- I’m still learning too.
