It started with basketball, but became so much more! 💙🏀

Girls from schools across Adelaide’s north came together through Play Our Way to build skills, confidence, and friendships in a fun and supportive space.

From first-time players finding their feet, to full-court games, dance-offs, and big cheers on carnival day… this program was all about having a go and feeling like you belong.

And the best part? Some of the girls are continuing on their journey by joining local teams, proving that sometimes, all it takes is the opportunity to step onto the court! 🙌

“You really made a change to my life and my family. Without you guys I don’t think I could have become sober.”

This is what one person said after completing Sonder’s In-Home Withdrawal Service (shared anonymously).

This service supports people to safely withdraw from alcohol or other drugs at home in the comfort and privacy of their own home.

With support from our caring, experienced team, you’re guided every step of the way – before, during, and after withdrawal – in a way that is compassionate, respectful, and free from judgement.

If you or someone you know is thinking about making a change, support is available. 💙

What a beautiful, vibrant Closing the Gap Day event at the Adelaide Showgrounds last week!

We were so proud to see so many Sonder staff come together to be part of this important event – connecting with community, catching up with sector colleagues, and making new connections along the way.

It was a colourful and welcoming space, and a great opportunity for Aboriginal people to learn more about the supports and services available. Events like this remind us why community connection matters so much.

A highlight for us was hearing from our CEO, Sageran Naidoo, who spoke about the importance of partnership and continuing to walk alongside community.

This year also marked an important milestone. After 10 years of hosting Closing the Gap Day, Sonder was proud to support Nunkuwarrin Yunti as they led the event for the first time.

Congratulations to the Nunkuwarrin Yunti team on a successful event. We look forward to seeing this important event continue to grow under Aboriginal Community Controlled leadership.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by a Sonder stall for a chat - we loved seeing you there!

A child’s early years are a time of rapid growth and development, and early checks can help ensure children get the right support to thrive.

Sonder now offers free child health and development checks for children aged 5 months to 5 years, delivered by registered nurses with specialist skills in child health.

These supportive appointments provide time to talk about your child’s development, celebrate milestones, and identify any needs early so the right supports can be put in place.

Meet Sue: a determined woman who’s chasing her dream job of becoming a cook in the mining industry. 👩‍🍳

After health challenges and workplace setbacks, Sue found support through Sonder’s Inclusive Employment Australia program, working with her career coach Jamie to build confidence, improve her health, and take practical steps toward her goals.

Sue’s story shows what’s possible when you have the right support: belief in yourself, guidance, and a plan. 💙🧡

Becoming herself, proudly! 💜🌈

At 15, Ellyse walked into Gender Dive - a social connection group for LGBTQIA+ young people at headspace Edinburgh North - looking for connection and a place where she could truly be herself.

Today, at 19, she’s a confident young transgender woman, advocate, and role model, helping create inclusive spaces for other LGBTQIA+ young people in schools and sport.

From painting her nails for the first time, to returning to her school as an LGBTQIA+ advocate, Ellyse’s journey is a powerful reminder of what can happen when young people are given safe, affirming spaces to explore who they are.
