to Remembrance Day a few weeks ago, when Julie-Marie Pope, Northern Employment Services Area (ESA) Manager for our Inclusive Employment Australia (IEA) service and Board Director for Salisbury Business Association Inc, attended the local community service.

With around 150 people in attendance, it was moving to see so many taking time out of their day to pause, reflect, and remember together. Julie and her parents laid a wreath on behalf of Sonder IEA, a small gesture of gratitude for the sacrifices made by so many.

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped keep these memories and traditions alive.

Lest we forget. 🌺

Big news for South Australian families!

We’re excited to share that Sonder has been chosen as the preferred provider to establish and run two new Kids Hubs in Adelaide’s north and south, in partnership with Kudos Services, KWY Aboriginal Corporation, and Multicultural Communities Council of SA.

🎉 These hubs will offer free, family-focused mental health and wellbeing support for children aged 0–12.

🎉 The first Kids Hub at GP Plus Marion opens this week, with outreach support available at GP Plus Aldinga.

🎉 A second Kids Hub for northern Adelaide is planned for the first half of 2026!

Today we held a press conference at Marion GP Plus to celebrate. Thank you to everyone who spoke alongside our CEO, Sageran Naidoo: the Hon. Emma McBride MP, Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Su***de Prevention, the Hon. Chris Picton MP, Minister for Health and Wellbeing, and community member Karina Van Der Merwe, who shared her lived experience as a parent navigating the mental health system.

A big thank you also to Nadia Clancy MP, Sarah Andrews MP, and Louise Miller-Frost MP for showing their support.

These Kids Hubs form part of the Federal Government’s new Medicare Mental Health Kids Hubs initiative and will play an important role in improving early support and easier access to care for families across South Australia.

Today we recognise International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) and celebrate the many strengths, insights and contributions individuals living with disability bring to our communities.

This year’s theme — “Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress” — reminds us that inclusion is an essential ingredient in a fair and welcoming society where everyone can participate and thrive.

At Sonder, we’re committed to making our services and workplaces more accessible, breaking down barriers, and ensuring lived experience guides the way we work. 💙🧡

The Royal Commission into Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence gave us a clear roadmap to create a society built on respect.

This 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we urge all South Australians to Take the Pledge to act against domestic, family and sexual violence.

You can pledge to:
☑️ Speak up – not stay silent.
☑️ Act safely online.
☑️ Learn the signs of abuse.
☑️ Listen to and believe victim-survivors.
☑️ Support people experiencing violence.
☑️ Lead by example in words, actions and relationships.

Together, we can make a change. 💜

Drought can be tough. Not just on the land, but on your mind too. Feeling stressed, anxious, sad, or overwhelmed is completely normal.

Here are a few things that might help:
🔵 Spend time with people who care.
🔵 Talk about the ups and downs with friends, family, or a health professional.
🔵 Keep a routine and look after your body with healthy meals and exercise.
🔵 Take breaks from distressing news or social media.
🔵 Be kind to yourself — you’re doing your best.

If you or your family need extra support, a range of free services are available across South Australia. Find out more at bit.ly/4psndKo.

What makes a placement experience stand out for social work students? 🤔

For many of our placement students, it’s the combination of feeling welcomed and supported, learning from experienced clinicians, and seeing their classroom knowledge come to life in real practice.

We’ve shared an article that dives deeper into what makes placements at Sonder so impactful. Read more at sonder.net.au/inside-sonders-student-placement-experience or swipe below to read students’ reflections. 💙

Our team members, Hannah and Somayya were proud to represent Sonder at the recent Welcoming Community Dinner, hosted by Welcoming Australia, the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, and STTARS. 🤝

The Welcome Dinners offer a free, safe, and inclusive space for people from diverse cultural backgrounds to come together, share food, connect, and build a sense of belonging.

Hannah and Somayya had some great conversations with community members and partnership organisations, supporting people to explore connection and wellbeing.

Hannah also delivered an engaging mental health and wellbeing presentation, followed by a multilingual “Five Senses” interactive activity that both kids and adults loved!

We’re proud to partner with organisations that champion inclusion and strengthen community connection. 👏🎉

Despite the wet weather, we had a great time at the Kura Yerlo Inc Connected Beginnings Children’s Day, a lively and well-attended celebration! ❤️💛🖤

Held at the Seaton Ramblers Football Club, the free family event brought together local families with young children for a day of fun and connection. From bungee trampolines and face painting to art, crafts, and giant games, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Our team enjoyed engaging with community members and local services to share information about Sonder and what we do. It was a great chance to strengthen partnerships and support families in a relaxed and welcoming setting! 🤝

National headspace Day is an annual event aimed at promoting mental health and wellbeing for young people.

This year, the team at our headspace Edinburgh North centre celebrated headspace Day with a shared lunch: great food, great conversations, and great vibes all around! 💚

This year’s theme, "make space", reminded us all to create time for the things that support our mental health… whether that’s catching up with friends, taking a break, or exploring something creative.

A huge thank you to The Deaf Butterfly Effect for delivering their Deaf Awareness Training on the day. We appreciated learning how to better communicate with and support members of our community who are deaf and hard of hearing.

headspace services are funded by the Australian Government Department of Health. Administration of funding is carried out by the headspace centre’s local Primary Health Network, in this case, Adelaide PHN.

What an unforgettable night! 🎉

On Saturday 8 November, we celebrated Sonder’s first-ever Staff Awards Gala at the Adelaide Convention Centre, bringing together more than 340 staff, partners, and supporters for an evening filled with connection, gratitude, and pride.

From a beautiful Welcome to Country by Uncle Moogy, to heartfelt speeches and moments of reflection, the night honoured the incredible people who make Sonder what it is.

We recognised long-serving staff, graduates of our Leadership Development Program, and the outstanding individuals and teams who took home awards across nine categories. Each win was a celebration of dedication, compassion, and impact. 💙🧡

A big thank you to our Gold Sponsors, Weeks Homes and Data Capture Experts, for helping bring the event to life, along with our Silver Sponsor Falco, and Bronze Sponsor Stellan Capital. We’re also grateful to our award sponsors TriCorp, Northpoint Toyota, and Synergy Signs for supporting our celebration of people, purpose, and impact.

Most of all, thank you to our staff. Your passion, kindness, and commitment to community shine every day. You are Sonder.
