Ever since I had my son over 3yrs ago I have been on a healing journey…

Birthing a mother.
Experiencing physical and emotional birth trauma.
Postpartum depression and anxiety

And I have tried ALOT of different modalities during this time.

Some that worked better than others.

And now part of my healing is to share this information with all mums.

Feeling unprepared postpartum??

Well apparently you’re not alone, 90% of women believe there’s stigma around talking about this.

Mums need and deserve a hell of a lot more support than what they’re currently getting postpartum so is it about sharing information?

Knowledge is power after all.

Hold the mum, not the baby.

As part of my healing (but also, I want mums to avoid the experiences I went through postpartum), I have been interviewing some amazing people.

Working hard to put together an audio series to share with mums, pregnant and postpartum to help them heal, recover and feel supported and empowered.

This is so much more than a free audio series to me ❤️

We are almost ready to launch this beauty and I want to thank my guest speakers…

Hot days = icecream

…which means a freak out for me as I hate the amount of sugar kids have as if it’s a normal part of life and ok.

Eventhough sugar effects them negatively on memory, performance, learning and concentration…to name a few.

But I gave Monty 3 options from the shop (all options I was happy for him to choose 😉).

He feels independent and gets an icecream and I don’t deal with a tantrum.

This one is 98% sugar free, mainly strawberries, coconut milk and full fat cream.

I prefer to make my own courtesy of - chocolate covered bananas but I haven’t made the time.

NOVEMBER BRINGS TREATS FOR MUMS.

OK I know lots of people say it "Get a unique, tailored workout for you"...and I feel this work 'tailored' has been bastardised in the fitness industry because we all know that everyone else is getting YOUR 'tailored workout' too.

Right?

Mums deserve to know how a child has changed their body and what they can do to feel like themselves again, no, even better than before babies.

Which is why a full body check up is so great and why I offer it before attending any classes or sessions.

MORE INFO HERE - https://www.larajezeph.com/service-page/1hr-full-body-check-up

Want to exercise but not really sure what to do?
Want to feel strong and move without pain in the back, knees and hips?
Don't have time to keep trialling different programmes to see whats best for you as they're not really 'tailored' for you?
Worry about attending group classes incase you injure yourself?
Want to stop leaking when you sneeze or cough?
Want a strong, tight, functioning core?
Want to feel confident in your body to move around freely with your babies?

After this comprehensive check up just for mums you can be confident knowing how to get all of the above and more.

OH and this is available online too so anyone in the world has access.

Babies who aren't on the move are more than welcome to attend 🙂

WATERMELON 🍉 IS IN SEASON!

Oh yes Spring and Summer.

Eat seasonally is best especially when it comes to the health of your gut flora.

We aren’t meant to eat all veggies and fruit all year round.

You can tell if a fruit is in season because it tastes better and not as expensive as when they’re out of season.

You can also look up your country and the seasons for fruit and veg to find out what’s in season where you are.

If you haven’t tried a pregnancy pillow I would highly recommend.

I was really struggling with sleep but I didn’t think I was uncomfortable, I thought it was just hormones, standard with pregnancy.

Clearly there’s something in this as I was cocooned into this giant hug and I slept so much deeper (in between the occasional toddler wake up).

Just no room for hubby 😬

I often eat such healthy foods and I definitely get plenty of fruits and veggies daily….NOT!!

Today, I fancy this as a snack.
Tomorrow, who knows.

Don’t let a fitness professional or guru/someone you follow…

1) Make you feel bad about the foods you eat and

2) They’re lying if they tell you they eat well for their body all the time.

DOES YOUR TUMMY DO THIS WHEN YOU DO AN AB EXERCISE?

The one on the left is showing lack of abdominal control.

So regardless of whether someone has abdominal separation or not we want to work on helping to gain abdominal control.

This is what we do at the beginning of classes...a TA (Transverse Abdominus) activation.

I know some of the mums find it boring and tedious but as I always say...better this than having your organs fall out your va**na.

Anyway, signs of a lack of abdominal control include; doming or peaking of the abdominals or the inner abdominal wall
pushing out between the re**us abdominis (shown in left image).

We can use our Pelvic Floor and TA activation cues to help pre-activate abdominals during an exercise.

If I find they can't maintain this control during the exercise then it may be too strong for them at this time and we can regress, adapt or potentially help them with a breathing strategy “exhale on effort” to assist with intra-abdominal pressure and abdominal control.

Do you find you dome or peak when exercising your abs?

Lie on your back and try doing a simple crunch...what happens??

Did you know your pelvic floor muscles are directly attached to your hip muscles?

As always, I recommend clients go and get their pelvic floor checked because there’s only so much I can do with look and feel. A great pelvic floor physio check will do an internal examination.

This beauty has been experiencing hip pain and now we know it’s down to a hypertonic pelvic floor.

The hip bone is connected to the pelvic bone and the pelvic floor muscles are connected to hip muscles: the obturator internus (OI).

What’s that skeleton song: the thigh bones connected to the hip bone, the hip bones connected to the backbone etc…everything is connected!

This is super important because had Cait not been checked she would have being doing the usual kegels and hip flexor stretches that standard trainers teach which could aggravate the problem.

And a hypertonic pelvic floor can show similar symptoms as an under active one…such as leaking.

Other symptoms of a hypertonic pelvic floor include:
Constipation
Pain when having in*******se
Painful periods.

Training now is needed on the pelvic floor to actually relax the muscles: breathing down exercises.

All I can say is get yourself checked with a pelvic floor physio who does internal examinations.

Thanks and my go to guru

Thanks for the great image when you scroll over one 👏🏼
