If today feels overwhelming and your mind just won’t switch off, pause for a moment.

This gentle breathing technique can help calm your nervous system and settle emotional overload.

Sit comfortably and lengthen your spine.

Close your right nostril and slowly inhale through your left.
Then close your left nostril and exhale through your right.

Inhale through the right, and exhale through the left.

Keep your breath slow, soft and steady. Continue for a few minutes.

It’s a simple way to quiet the mind, relax the body and bring yourself back to balance.

Stairs hurting your knee? Your knee might be innocent.

Most pain when walking downstairs actually starts in the hip, not the knee.

When you’re stressed, overdoing things, or carrying too much responsibility, the outer hip tightens to stabilise your body.
That tension runs down the outer thigh and pulls on the knee joint.

So the knee isn’t weak, it’s compensating.

Emotionally, this area is often linked to:
• Feeling unsupported
• Carrying everyone else’s load
• Pushing through mental and physical exhaustion
• “I have to keep going” stress patterns

The body braces through the hips when life feels unstable.

In Bowen technique, we gently release the hip and outer thigh chain.
This helps reset tension through the nervous system and takes strain off the knee.

Travelling to Europe with kids – the holistic survival guide

Not going to sugar coat it – there were tantrums (from the kids and us adults). But we got through it with planning, natural remedies and a whole lot of “just breathe.”

What saved us on our Europe family trip:
• Pre-flight jet lag homeopathics + Bushflower essences ( at Intuitive Quantum Healing)
• Wellness packs – oils, sprays (Tamara at Alchemess), lavender stick, diffuser, games + snacks
• Adults only: L-theanine + melatonin
• Water bottles + mini fans – absolute lifesavers
• Small ball for my soccer kid + card games at restaurants
• Airbnbs so I could cook schnitzel + bolognaise for the fussy eaters
• Bowen therapy on my family whenever I could 💆‍♀️ try and seek one or even light massage or reflexology

Keeping it simple helped – no crazy island hopping, just family-friendly towns and cities we could drive or train to. Less stress, more memories. And don’t overpack – 7 days of clothes is plenty if you’re planning to wash.

Our simple jet lag routine for kids (and parents):
Day 1 – Stay awake till local bedtime
Day 2 – Early rise, outdoor time
Day 3 – Normal bedtime routine (lavender, cuddles, dark room)
Always hydrate, move, and eat at local times.

It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. These holistic family travel tips kept us grounded as much as possible and made the journey so much smoother.
