Many carers worry they are “not doing enough” when someone they support is struggling.

In reality, being present is often already doing a lot.

Support does not always look like appointments or plans straight away. Sometimes it looks like:

-Sitting quietly together
-Letting someone talk without fixing
-Noticing patterns without rushing to label them
-Giving space when emotions feel big

Psychology and PBS both start from the same place:
safety, respect, and understanding.

There is no expectation to have all the answers.
Your role is not to solve everything; your role is to care, notice, and stay connected.

That alone creates stability.

💬 What does “being there” usually look like for you?

👍 Follow Arise Allied Health for more gentle guidance and support.

Sometimes, we think support is only needed when things feel “severe.”
But in reality, support is often most helpful early, before things escalate.

Families and carers are usually the first to notice small changes:

-More emotional outbursts
-Withdrawal from usual activities
-Increased anxiety
-Behaviour that feels “out of character.”

These signs aren’t a sign of failure. They simply show someone is trying to cope with something bigger than their current tools.

We are here to listen and support you.

Support doesn’t always mean immediate fixing. Sometimes, understanding is the first and most powerful step.

What was the first small change you noticed when someone you care about was struggling?

ARISE

ARISE PSYCHOLOGY was established in August 2017, after 8 years of experience working in the field. As a registered psychologist, my passion is to support my clients to gradually progress towards health in various aspects of their lives. I tailor therapy to suit individuals while mainly utilising Cognitive Behavioural techniques such as: psychoeducation, motivational interviewing, behavioural modification, exposure techniques, activity scheduling, cognitive interventions, stress management, self-esteem building, and relaxation strategies.

In my clinical and corporate experience, I have worked with a range of disorders and/issues including: mood disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, trauma related issues or disorders, drugs and alcohol misuse and addiction, self-esteem issues, limited life skills, relationship issues, domestic violence, parenting issues, career and study planning difficulties, and work related issues.

I believe in empowering my clients to establish or re-restablish skills and strategies to develop and maintain health. These skills and strategies include:

  • Coping skills training
