The RSL congratulates the MPs appointed to the Federal Shadow Ministry. We look forward to working with Darren Chester again, as Shadow Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, as well as James Paterson (Defence), Phillip Thompson (Defence Industry and Defence Personnel), Andrew Hastie (Industry and Sovereign Capability), Andrew Willcox (Assistant Shadow Minister for Manufacturing and Sovereign Capability) and Leah Blyth (Assistant Shadow Minister for Defence.

The RSL is non-partisan and works with all sides of parliament in the best interests of veterans, Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel and their families.

This is a crucial time for the veteran and Defence communities, and it is vital we have both the Government and Opposition working to achieve the best outcomes for those who have served and continue to serve our nation.

Such a valuable programme 🥳🥳

On 14th February, RSL Reach Out celebrated its first birthday. A full year of providing connection, support, hope and stability to our veterans and their families.
It's supports have been chalk and cheese; from hospital/health care coordination to home repairs, grocery delivery to aged care support...it hasn't seen a boundary yet.
We are so very proud of the achievements of this service and can honestly say, we are changing lives here in SA/NT & Broken Hill!

Bangka Day, honors the 21 Australian Army nurses murdered in the 1942 Bangka Island Massacre.

Today commemorates 84 years since the 1942 incident where nurses, survivors of the sunken SS Vyner Brooke, were machine-gunned by Japanese soldiers, with only Sister Vivian Bullwinkel surviving and able to share with the story of this tragic event.
We are honoured to have members attend each year.

Lest we forget

Today is National Servicemen's Day, when we honour the young Australian men who served in the National Service Schemes, known as 'Nashos'.

Over 280,000 young men were called up for national service between 1951 and 1972 with the last Nashos discharged in 1974.

Nashos served in Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and Papua New Guinea.

More than 200 died on active service overseas, and others died while serving in Australia.

Although many young men were proud to serve their country in uniform, national service came at a personal cost for all Nashos, irrespective of the nature and location of their service. They didn’t choose to serve – but when Australia called, they answered.

Today we honour all those who answered the call.
