If you see these terms on your scan, do not panic. Research shows that these findings are present in majority of people- increasing as we age - with ZERO pain. They are just normal age related changes.

We don’t treat the image findings, but the whole person in front of us. We do this by gathering all relevant evidence from your history - including your previous scans, as well as your physical presentation prior to making clear clinical decisions to improve your pain and function

Back into running for 2026 and getting shin pain? Or just starting out?

That aching or sharp pain along the shin isn’t “just soreness”.
👉 It’s often shin splints (Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome), one of the most common running injuries we see in running athleetes.

Why assessment matters
Every runner is different. That’s why we utilise:
a. Thorough clinical assessment from experienced clinicians

b. KangaTech – to assess lower limb strength and neuromuscular control

c. Force plates – to quantify and describe asymmetrical and inefficient loading patterns

d. Vuemotion – to analyse running mechanics and movement efficiency

Together, these allow us to identify why your shins are overloaded, not just where it hurts but WHY!

How we fix shin splints:

1: Smart load modification (not complete rest)

2: Targeted calf, foot & hip strengthening

3: Myofascial release to the medial soleul aponeurotic bridge

4. Shock wave therapy to the medial tibia and surrounding soft tissues

5: Running Technique & movement retraining

6: Progressive return-to-run programming that can. Improve your performance in the long term

7: Soft orthotics (when appropriate) to improve lower-limb mechanics and reduce stress on the medial shin
