Make sure you are adding in some mobility exercises to your routine along with recovery like a good massage or be this guy 😂

What is recovery and why is it important?

To get better at a sport or to enhance your personal fitness, you must expose your body to stresses. Different stresses include training and exercises like lifting weights, sprinting, endurance runs or cardio, playing sport etc.. But upon completion of these stresses the human body needs to adapt to the stresses it just underwent, and this is where we get the recovery stage.

Neglecting the recovery stage can lead to injuries.

If you want to be performing at your peak without any annoying injuries be sure to have a good recovery plan.

Releasing the Subscapularis muscle, One of the 4 rotator cuff muscles.

Releasing this muscle will greatly improve shoulder mobility and function. The lifestyles we lead at work put a lot of us in internal rotation as we are working in front of bodies. Computer work, driving and using mobiles can add to this.

Referred pain in felt in the rear delt, down the arm and around the wrist.

Book in to free up your shoulder!

What is Fascia??

Fascia is the biological fabric that holds us together. It is a thin, tough, elastic type of connective tissue found between the layers of muscle fibres, between muscles, around organs and connected in a web throughout the entire body.

Many people hold stress in their muscles, causing the muscles to become contracted. It is believed that fascia can create tight knots or adhesions that act as trigger points, constrict muscles, and decrease blood supply, causing pain and decreased range of motion.

Movement and massage therapy play an important role in keeping connective tissue hydrated and mobile. When we are in similar postures for prolonged periods of time, such as sitting and working at a desk or on a computer, our bodies adapt to support these positions, and the fascia becomes tight if we do not undertake compensating movement or therapies.

Massage therapists can help with a technique called Myofascial Release that uses sustained pressure to loosen and lengthen constricted fascia. Cupping therapy is another technique that stretches and lengthens fascia with the use of vacuum cups.

Pin and Stretch Technique with cupping is a movement based muscle lengthening technique that is highly effective in treating the muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia.

Tissues in relation to texture, tightness, movement, and function are treated with stretching combined with sliding force, which is intended to increase movement of the tissues.

With this application of direct pressure and specific motions we can lengthen the tissue in the specific movements needed. This has the potential to increases blood flow, improve range of motion, and increase strength.

Whatever your needs require in relation to technique, performance, range of motion or functionality we will treat it accordingly!

Are you getting that tight feeling between your shoulder blades?

One of the reasons this can happen is from the postures we are in from all of the daily activities we perform such as work, training, computers/phones picking up kids etc and the list goes on!

Generally the rhomboids and traps are the culprits and this technique is a great way to get a deep stretch and de compress the area so you feel “loosened up” and are able to move so much better!!

If you enjoy keeping active, lifting weights or have a hands on job you would notice your forearms getting “tight” over time. This could be due to overuse and common injuries are tennis elbow, golfers elbow etc.
