Gap fees for Knee Replacements
I am totally shocked to hear that a few surgeons in Adelaide charge gaps of up to $4,500 for a knee replacement.
No surgeon is worth that fee in Adelaide when there are many VERY good surgeons charging far more modest gaps.
Those high fee a a surgeons are also not members of the Australian Knee Society or Atroplasty Society so they are NOT keeping up to date as well as their colleagues who members.

I don’t normally post work stuff on Facebook BUT I am so proud of 2 achievements recently. Last Monday Prof Stephen Graves (Director of the National Joint Replacement Registry) presented data showing that sportsmed has the lowest infection rate of any Clinic or hospital doing joint replacements in Australia AND I have the lowest rate of any high volume knee surgeon in Australia. Naturally we are ‘over the moon’ about this especially as a tiny few of our competitors have naughtily said we have ‘a high infection rate’!!!
