Are you looking for a Christmas present that might help someone achieve their fitness goals? Do you wan to treat yourself to a gift that keeps on giving? As much as we would like to think we can motivate ourselves sometimes we need a little help. This research discusses the benefits of wearable technology - my tip is something simple, easy to use and wear - eg a watch. with a step counter. Set yourself an achievable goal. I set myself about 6500 steps per day -I am more likely to achieve this and then I feel more confident to take those extra few steps or take a quick walk after dinner to get to my goal.

Wearable technology encourages people to be more active (at least in the short term), which can lead to weight loss and other health benefits.

The scientific evidence supports the use of exercise rehabilitation, where you become an active participant in the treatment. Passive therapies like massage won't help in the long run.

Due to SA Health directives our Physiotherapy clinic service will be closed until Wednesday 25th November. The medical services at Colonel Light medical remain open and any enquiries or appointments can be booked via the usual phone number. Hopefully we get back to usual services after this lockdown. This week I had some feedback from a doctor saying that patients don't want to see the physio because they will tell them to do exercises.

Well my response to this is yes as we now know exercise is a form of medicine beneficial to most medical and psychological conditions.

But....physios don't just tell you to do exercise they work with you to find exercises that help you live your life and work towards your goals to be able to have the strength, balance, endurance and confidence to face the challenges in your day to day life.

So don't be put off by the thought of exercise. We are here to help !
