Hi There
I hope you are having a great day.
Here is the next part of my Vision Quest 2025
For my solo part I decided to do 4 days fasting. My solo time started on Monday morning about 6ish.
I was tired before I started, after getting lost the day before etc.
My legs felt like lead and my back pack was heavy, it was along walk to the cave.
It took over an hour and walking on sloping land with rocks only added to the challenge. I found this part really physically and mentally hard.
I have never really felt strong inside until, 2 years ago I walked the Pioneer Women’s Walk and did my first Vision Quest that I realised there is a bit of grit within me. Well I was certainly drawing on all of it this day.
I finally got to the cave and then had to walk up over rocks and near the edges of ledges, which for me I find stressful.
Finally I made it to the cave.
I stayed in the cave until Thursday morning. I went out once each day, I couldn’t carry my back pack up there and went down to grab what I needed and take down what was no longer needed.
Thursday morning I was in my 4th day of fasting and time to move closer to Base Camp for the last of my solo nights.
My back pack felt really heavy now. I had to find a big rock or branch to put my back pack on so I could get it on my back and stand up. It took a couple of goes but I got there.
As I was leaving I had to collect the red streamers Rob had put of for me to find my way. The first one I put on my wrist to remind myself I can do hard things and this was going to be needed today.
I kept telling myself one foot in front of the other , one foot in front of the other, keep going, I am not taking my back pack off as I know I won’t get it back on.
I felt heavy, my steps were slow.
Stopping for small sips of water and resting on a branch so at least I could rest my pack on that for a moment or too.
Then keep walking. One foot in front of the other and so it continued for about an hour!
Finally I had reached my destination for the last solo night.
I took my mat out and rested in shade for a long time. My legs, back and shoulders aching.
I had a few things I had to get ready for the night, then more rest.
Before it knew it was sunrise and time to walk back to base camp.
To lift my pack onto the branch took the last bit of my strength.
Finally, it was on my back and off I went one foot in front of the other, stay focussed, keep moving forward.
As I walked the rise to base camp the tears started, I could not believe I had made it.
It took every ounce of my strength to do this.
***I can do hard things***
I would love to hear about times you realised you can do hard things and how did you get through it?
To be continued ...
