After leaving the Navy, Kris was living with PTSD that left him isolated, anxious, and struggling to cope. He shut himself off from the world, until he was matched with his highly trained See Differently OKP9 Assistance Dog - Wes!

Wes isn’t just a companion. He’s a lifeline. “When I’m overwhelmed, he knows it, he puts his head in my lap, licks my hand, or climbs up to bring me back to the present.” Kris says.

Your generosity will go a long way in empowering more partnerships like Kris and Wes >> https://bit.ly/2025Xmas

Pup Of The Month | Meet Vera

Vera brings joy to the See Differently Guide & Assistance Dog team every time we catch up with her either at Gilles Plains or out and about on the road! She travels into the city with her Puppy Educator, confidently navigating public transport and soaking up the hustle and bustle. Currently, she’s working on staying focused around other dogs, and her enthusiasm and gentle nature shine through in everything she does, even when she’s chilling beside the robot vacuum.

We’re looking for more volunteers who can open their hearts and homes in 2026 to help raise our upcoming litters of pups! If you have a little time and a BIG heart, become a Puppy Volunteer with See Differently today via this link >> https://ow.ly/HHfg50XxiTK

Our Puppy Program needs a few extra helping hands this Christmas!

With some of our wonderful volunteers taking a well-deserved break over the holidays, we’re looking for caring community members who can support our pups through emergency boarding. Even a short stay makes a huge difference, as it keeps our future Guide & Assistance Dogs safe, happy, and on track with their training.

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, now is the perfect time to get involved over Christmas >> https://bit.ly/BedandBreakfastBoarders

Growing Through Learning

At See Differently, learning never stops, it’s how we ensure every dog we train and every person we support can live with independence and confidence.

Our team proudly attended the 2025 ADI Trainers’ Workshop in Victoria, connecting with professionals across the Oceania–Asia region to explore every stage of an assistance dog’s journey. A special shoutout to our Puppy Educator - Cecila for her standout presentation on the cue ‘close’.

Armed with new insights, our trainers continue to make sure every dog is happy, healthy, and ready to change lives, with plenty of play and cuddles along the way.

Did you know that 1 in 6 veterans in Australia are living with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)?

That’s almost three times higher than the general population. For too many, it means sleepless nights, isolation, broken families, and Christmas spent alone.

But there’s hope.

Through See Differently’s OPK9 Assistance Dog Program, veterans are being paired with highly trained assistance dogs, loyal companions who help calm anxiety, rebuild confidence, and bring joy back into everyday life.

The demand for this program is growing and right now, veterans are waiting!

This Christmas help us train more See Differently Assistance Dogs like Wes, ready to support veterans like Kris on their journey to recovery.

Give the gift of hope, healing, and a reason to smile again >> https://bit.ly/2025Xmas
