I'm honoured to be nominated for the 2025 Com.It.Es SA Progetto Donna Awards and proud to stand with women making a difference to the health and wellbeing of women in Adelaide.
Progetto Donna in conjunction with Com.It.Es forms part of an ongoing campaign to raise awareness of domestic and family violence and coercive control. Progetto Donna is supported by the Italian Consulate in Adelaide and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Italy, and by a grant from the Department of the Premier and Cabinet.
Even small steps, such as always giving women the opportunity to be seen in clinic without their husbands and partners, is a step towards establishing safety and bodily autonomy. 🙏

Dr Tonia Mezzini is a Sexual Health Physician based at Advanced Gynaecological Surgery Centre and Adelaide Oncology and Haematology. She is committed to providing individualised and compassionate medical care.

Dr Mezzini’s experience working in a range of sexual health services in South Australia is unparalleled; having worked at Clinic 275, Yarrow Place, Second Story Youth Health Service, Cervix Screen SA, Adelaide Women’s Health Centre and the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. As the Medical Director of SHine SA, Dr Mezzini headed up medical clinics for the State’s leading sexual health agency. Her most recent clinical experience focused on providing expert care to both men and women with chronic pelvic pain concerns.
Dr Mezzini is a lecturer in Sexual Health at the University of Adelaide, Rural Clinical School.
She works closely with experienced clinicians providing gender affirming hormone therapy to tr*******al, transgender and gender non-conforming people. Dr Mezzini practices according the to World Professional Association for Transgender Health Standards of Care (Version 7) and the Endocrine Society’s Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Treatment of Tr*******al Persons. Ensuring safe, supported and appropriate hormonal care.
Dr Mezzini is one of the few clinicians in Adelaide working with men with chronic pelvic pain. Her approach is as part of a multidisciplinary team and she established the Adelaide Pelvic Pain Network in order to ensure that people suffering from chronic pelvic pain receive the best possible care. The Adelaide Pelvic Pain Network meet monthly to discuss complex cases, and review new developments in the scientific literature.
Dr Mezzini is able to offer patients a discrete alternative to Clinic 275 for sexually transmitted infection testing, treatment and information.
She has spent her professional life helping people with a range of hormonal, reproductive and sexual health concerns.
