🤧The flu is the most common vaccine preventable illness in Australia.😷

🦠The flu is a highly contagious viral infection. It may be mild in some, but it can cause very serious illness, hospitalisation and even death in otherwise healthy people. It is especially serious for babies, people aged over 65 years, people with underlying medical conditions and pregnant women.

💉Vaccination is a safe and effective way to help protect you from the flu. By getting vaccinated, you also help protect those that are too ill or too young to be vaccinated.

🤒The Australian Government's National Immunisation Program (NIP) provides a free flu vaccines to the following eligible Medicare card holders:
- People aged 65 and older
- Pregnant women (at any stage of pregnancy)
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- People aged 6 months and older with certain medical conditions that increase their chance of severe influenza and its complications
- Children aged 6 months to less than 5 years old.

Dr Gautam Pisapati is a GP registrar with a passion for managing chronic diseases and promoting preventative healthcare. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences and Medical Studies, a Doctor of Medicine, and a Master of Public Health.

After completing his training in Queensland, Gautam worked at Brisbane and Gold Coast hospitals for five years and has recently relocated to South Australia, bringing his expertise and patient-centred approach to the community.

Dr Rebecca Langhans completed her medical degree at the University of Adelaide in 2021. She spent her internship year working at the Royal Adelaide Hospital as well as completing a Rural General Practice term in the Riverland.

In 2023 she spent the year at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital working in both Paediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She has an interest in both these areas and is currently undertaking her Certificate in Women’s Health.
