Unlike most lambs, Dolly’s life started in a test tube. Her birth was kept secret for seven months. It was announced on February 22, 1997, and was not only a belated way to celebrate her arrival but also a confirmation that she had made history as the world’s first successfully cloned mammal. It took 276 attempts to create a successful clone, but Dolly the cloned Finn-Dorset sheep was finally born on July 5, 1996.

Named after country music star Dolly Parton, the ewe proved that scientists could take a specialised adult cell and use it to create new life.

International Mother Language Day was first proclaimed by UNESCO in 1999 to underscore the role of languages in promoting inclusion. Multilingual education not only promotes inclusive societies but also aids in preserving non-dominant, minority, and indigenous languages and promoting lifelong learning.

Did you know, every two weeks a language disappears taking with it an entire cultural and intellectual heritage. UNESCO estimates that there are 8,324 languages, spoken or signed: out of these, around 7,000 languages are still in use. Only a few hundred languages have genuinely been given a place in education systems and the public domain, and less than a hundred are used in the digital world.

You see skin conditions every day, from eczema and fungal infections to acne and the lesions that make your heart skip a beat. But confidence doesn’t always match frequency.

Dermatological presentations are some of the most common yet most challenging problems in general practice. The GP Derm course is built for clinicians who want a clear, systematic approach to diagnosis and management, not just memorised lists. It unpacks evidence-based techniques for skin assessment, helps sharpen decision-making around common and less common presentations (including skin cancer), and supports more confident, effective care in everyday practice.

If you’d like to deepen your clinical confidence with dermatology or upgrade skills you already use daily, you can explore the course here:

Supervision can be deeply rewarding, and quietly demanding. Some days the teaching moments are obvious. Other days it’s about holding space, giving feedback that lands, and navigating tricky conversations without undermining confidence.

Mastering Supervision isn’t about a checklist, it’s about strengthening the skills that make supervision effective and human. The course translates evidence into practical guidance tailored to the realities of clinical teaching and workplace learning. It covers frameworks for supporting trainees, approaches to feedback and mentoring, strategies for difficult conversations, and ways to build an optimal learning environment that sets trainees up for success.

If you’re supervising trainees or thinking about how to do it better, with clarity and confidence, you can explore the course here: 👉 https://gpex.com.au/course/mastering-supervision/

This is what burnout really looks like in healthcare

You can be competent, committed, and still completely exhausted. That’s not a personal failure, it’s a system reality.

Burnout shows up differently for health professionals. It’s not always dramatic or obvious. Often it looks like reduced capacity, emotional fatigue, difficulty switching off, or a sense that the work is taking more than it gives back.

Beating Burnout is a professional development course that takes a clear-eyed look at burnout in healthcare, what drives it, how it manifests, and what genuinely helps. It’s practical, evidence-informed, and grounded in the realities of clinical work, with a strong focus on reflection and sustainable wellbeing rather than quick fixes.

If this resonates, you can find out more or complete the course here:

Finishing your GP Fellowship written exams is a huge achievement. After months of focus and pressure, it’s normal to expect relief, or even celebration. But for some, the days that follow can feel unexpectedly flat, tiring, or unmotivating.

This post-exam dip is more common than you might think. Your body and mind are simply adjusting after running at full speed for so long. The good news? These feelings are temporary, and with a little time and self-compassion, things will settle.

World Cancer Day raises awareness about cancer, encouraging its prevention and mobile action to address the global cancer epidemic. The rolling World Cancer Day theme 2025-2027 is “United by Unique” placing people at the centre of care and exploring new ways to make a difference.

Cancer is more than just a medical diagnosis. Behind every diagnosis is a unique human story. We encourage you to talk to someone today about your experience with cancer or ask someone to share their story. Understanding promotes unity.

You’re already influencing patient decisions, this shows how to make that impact count.

As an allied health professional, the conversations you have every day can help people take earlier, life-saving steps for their health, even when screening isn’t your primary role.

If you want to feel more confident knowing when to speak up, how to support patients, and where you fit in the bigger picture, this one’s for you.
