Today marks the anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generations.

Today we honour the strength, courage and resilience of survivors and their families. The Apology was an important step in acknowledging the wrongs of the past and affirming the enduring strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and communities. As we reflect, we continue to walk forward together – grounded in truth, healing and hope for future generations.

We also recognise that this day may stir up feelings for some in our community.

Today is Harmony Day. 🧡

Harmony Day celebrates cultural diversity and promotes inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone.

The Tackling Indigenous Smoking Team came together to celebrate Harmony Day together with Bowden Brompton Community School, embracing the incredible diversity that makes our community so special.

It was a wonderful event filled with vibrant cultures, shared stories, and the spirit of inclusion.

We also took the opportunity to promote awareness around the dangers of smoking and va**ng. It's crucial that we raise awareness to protect our health and build a stronger, healthier future for everyone.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making this day meaningful. Whether through food, dance, art, or conversation, we united in our shared vision for a peaceful, accepting world where everyone belongs. Let’s continue to celebrate and honour the richness of our diverse backgrounds every day and stay mindful of our health.

The Tackling Indigenous Smoking team were proud to attend the Royal Adelaide Hospital’s National Close the Gap Day event yesterday.

We were there to discuss the important issues of smoking and va**ng and how they impact our Indigenous communities.

It was an honour to join the conversation and continue working towards better health outcomes for our Indigenous communities.

Let’s keep pushing for equity and support.
