The 2025 Cochrane review on immediate and early skin-to-skin contact after birth highlights that further randomized controlled trials comparing skin-to-skin contact with ‘usual care’ are no longer ethical.

The findings show there is now enough evidence to make immediate skin-to-skin contact after birth the global standard of care, and as WHO already recommends skin-to-skin the standard of care, the authors argue that randomizing the separation of mother and newborn may no longer be justifiable.

When you understand and work with your baby’s sleep biology it is unnecessary to try to train your baby how to sleep at night. Just be aware that throughout the first year and beyond, baby humans remain helpless baby mammals who need you for physical contact, comfort and safety. Their need to be close to you is vital for their survival

Yes, most babies still wake during the night at 12 months. No, that doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong.

"We don't have anyone to watch our older kids while I'm in labour..."

This is honestly one of the most common worries I hear from expecting families. The stress of sorting out childcare during birth can really take the shine off what should be an exciting time.

You shouldn't have to choose between worrying about your children during labour, asking mates or family for a massive favour at unknown times, or having strangers care for your kids during this huge life change.

*As your sibling doula, I become your children's familiar, trusted person - someone they already know and feel comfortable with when baby decides it's time to make an appearance.

Your older children get to stay in their own home with someone who knows their routines, their favourite foods, and how they like their bedtime stories read. Plus, I keep you connected with them throughout the whole process.

🪷 Umbilical cord keepsake 🪷
This dehydrated cord reveals the inner structure beautifully - the blood vessels are now visible through the translucent layer of Wharton's jelly, which flattens out during the drying process.

Wharton's jelly is a protective, cushiony substance that surrounds and insulates the vessels while baby is in the womb. Once dried, it becomes almost see-through, allowing us to see just how the vessels were protected and how unique each cord truly is.

No two cords look the same - some have more Wharton’s jelly, some twist tightly, others lie more loosely. It’s a powerful reminder of just how individual every birth and baby is 💛
