Today we had the privilege of saying farewell to HSW Mila, after 11 years of service at Accept Care. We began the celebration with some words of reflection from NDIS nurse Rajani (pictured right) who spoke about Mila’s professionalism and understanding of a Participant’s complex needs. Mila has had a huge impact on the lives of both aged care and NDIS clients - offering support, understanding and intuitive care.
Knowing what to say to a client at a difficult time is an innate skill, one that can guide them positively in times of turbulence. Mila spoke about her many experiences and how trust can ‘make a difference’ for those in her care.
Hearing from Accept staff in community, advises us on the challenges they face and how we can support them further. Mila brought us all to tears at times when she spoke of the next stage in her life and the special times ahead for her with her grandson. We wish you well in retirement and completing your extensive memoirs. 💙💙

Accept Care values inclusion and works to empower every voice. On World Braille Day, 4 January, we celebrate communication and inclusion. Consider the importance that braille serves in the lives of those with vision impairment - it advances education, inclusivity, openness and empowers individuals to navigate the world. So, next time you notice braille on a sign, lift button, ATM machine or sheet music, you will realise the power that braille has to open the world to all.

👉 Our Support at Home Team have been working tirelessly to create a smooth transition for existing clients to the new program. The deep sense of belonging and trust in staff is fostered by our culture of always putting a client’s needs first.
Pictured here are RN Jaya and Care Partner Nerida, who received this beautiful bouquet and chocolates from a client who appreciates the care and kindness they have shown. They can both agree that being appreciated is a deeply rewarding experience for a staff member and Accept could not be prouder of their work. 💙🌸🌼

Workplaces play a vital role in creating a more inclusive and diverse community in Australia.
👉 Did you know?
There are 5.5 million people with disability in Australia – that’s 1 in 5 people
15% of people in Australia aged 0-64 years have disability
52% of people in Australia aged 65 years and over have disability
7.9% of all Australians have a profound or severe disability
9.9% or 1 in 10 people with disability in Australia have experienced discrimination.
Accept Care champions disability inclusion and calls on other businesses in the community to follow.

A positive way to end the week - the perfect example of how inclusion can benefit a business, a workplace and the broader community. Russell remains a wonderful role model - enjoy your retirement!
After a lifetime filled with dedication, kindness, and quiet brilliance, Russell O’Grady is stepping into retirement from his beloved role at McDonald’s in Northmead, Australia — and the entire community is feeling the moment.
What began years ago as a simple work-experience opportunity turned into one of the most heartwarming success stories. Russell didn’t just work at McDonald’s — he became the heartbeat of the place, greeting customers with warmth, spreading joy with his smile, and reminding everyone what true sincerity looks like.
Day after day, year after year, Russell showed that inclusion isn’t just a policy — it’s a powerful force that can transform lives, workplaces, and communities. His journey reflects how giving someone a chance can create a ripple of positivity that lasts for decades.
Today, as he retires, countless people who met him — even for a moment — are celebrating him. Because Russell wasn’t just an employee…
He was a symbol of acceptance, hard work, and humanity at its best.
Wishing Russell a beautiful, peaceful, and joy-filled retirement — one as warm as the happiness he brought to others. ❤️✨

International Men's Day is celebrated on November 19 each year. The day aims to highlight the positive contributions men make to society, families, and communities. In 2025, the theme is "Celebrating Men and Boys," focusing on promoting positive male role models and raising awareness about men's health and well-being. Today we recognise the great role models at Accept Care.

This year marks the 80th Anniversary of the second World War. This global conflict saw almost one million Australians enlist to serve their nation on the home front and overseas. Some 40,000 Australians lost their lives and many thousands were wounded or injured in the course of their military service.
11 November - on this day, and always, we remember.

Well done Valerie on being awarded Employee of the Month for September. Valerie was nominated after taking the initiative to complete her medication competency and demonstrating a commitment to quality care.
The nursing team have observed Valerie while she works in clients' homes, and noted she always demonstrates a gentle, person-centred approach. Her presence helps clients feel safe, respected, and genuinely cared for.
Valerie is a valued member of the Accept Care team, and we believe she is truly deserving of this recognition.

Support at Home started on 1 November and we’re ready to guide you through every step. Our systems have been updated, staff are trained and we are ready to partner with you through this change.
The good news is that under the new Support at Home program, more of your funding will go directly towards services. This is made possible by a reduction in the Care Management fees, the removal of Package Management fees and a shift to an all-inclusive hourly rate. Head to our website to learn more. https://accept.care/pricing

At Accept, we believe in an inclusive society. For us, this mean a society that supports all Australians - the four million with disabilities as well as the 20 million without - to thrive, set goals and succeed.
Accept is locally owned, independent and with over 20 years’ experience set in a modern organisation committed to creating a dynamic partnership with the people we care for. We are big enough to employ over 100 South Australians and service all areas of metropolitan Adelaide. We are small enough to care and offer one-to-one support. Our nurses, support workers and allied health professionals are there to empower you and those involved in your care by making the most of existing capabilities, resources and environment.
Accept’s vision is to improve the way Australians age and live with disabilities by empowering the individual. Our role is to provide excellent in-home care and services and we work in partnership with our clients, community groups and government organisations, as well as other organisations and healthcare providers, to achieve our vision.
We are committed to the values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence and we continue to develop a positive organisational culture that models these core values.
At Accept we work to deliver excellent person-centred in-home care and services that are designed to help our clients live safely and comfortably, with dignity and in privacy. We place a high value on a standard of care that is tailored to meet the needs of the individual and our community.
We approach everything we do from the client’s perspective and according to their values, preferences, expressed needs, beliefs and cultural needs, family situation and lifestyle. Our clients, their families and their long-term carers are an integral part of our service delivery. We strive to work with, and in, our community to improve our clients’ quality of life and independence in their own home. As part of our commitment to creating holistic solutions for our clients, we also collaborate with a wide and established network of service providers when required.
