The Art of Being Yourself;
We don’t have to like the same things as everyone around us to be okay. And there’s nothing wrong with the quirks that make you uniquely who you are.
Remember fitting is all a matter of perspective & most likely if we are introspective, our feelings of not fitting in are often born from the seeds of doubt we carry around in our own heads. A common human trait, especially when we have low self esteem, is that we feel judged by others. However, if we apply deeper self reflection we often find this is far from the reality we find ourselves in.
We are the centre of our own universe, we are not and can never be the centre of another. This means that we must try and apply a broader understanding of where our feelings of not fitting in arise from. Every person has their own internal conversations & feelings going on and its safe to say, we dont often feature as a topic in that other persons mind as much as we have ourselves believe we do. This makes us the more likely candidate as the perpetrators of judgement upon others, reacting out of fear or poor self worth. We push the blame for our feelings of not fitting in right back at the other person or persons in order to disown the power to take control of our own feelings. Maybe its your turn to reach out, ask some questions about whats going on in others lives, maybe you pick up the phone or take care to be inclusive or offer a smile.
Take a moment to breathe, reflect and broaden your understanding of what is actually going on around you and inside of you. You’ll most likely find you actually are ok and can even happily thrive coexisting with the other fish around you. ❤️
