Here's a tip if you attend webinars. You can use the new Split View web browser option so that you can watch the webinar and if they're teaching about how to use a website you can follow along doing the actions in your web browser. I did it today with this GEDmatch webinar and it was terrific.

What I'm working on:
These are some of the diaries of George Chapman my 2x great grandfather. They're at the State Library of South Australia, starting from 1872. I am currently transcribing and annotating part of the 1872 diary to add to my genealogy assistant chatbot Ask Grandma Kylie. www.askgrandmakylie.com

I was so pleased to find this wonderful headstone for my 2× great grandfather John Reid and his wife Catherine Burnet. It also remembers two of their children, Alexander and Christina. Finds like this are why I love family history — they connect us so directly to the people who came before us.

Ask Grandma Kylie www.askgrandmakylie.com tells me that there might be more information about the Birkenhead Hotel in an interview with Rhoda Isabella Plush in the State Library. https://catalog.slsa.sa.gov.au/record=b2150469
You can ask Grandma Kylie about all sorts of things related to South Australia and its history and people.

Woohoo!! Another Genealogy SA database update, more records to search and more stories to discover!

Exciting new database updates - 345,000+ records added!

'All Other Records' is a collection of records that do not have a clear home within our other datasets. We're excited to expand this collection, adding more than 345,000 records, from 42 magazines. There's a huge range of subjects, including magazines from theatre companies, hobby groups, and professional organisations, as well as numerous universities, colleges, and schools.

We have also created a brand new dataset: Church Records - Other. Currently, this is a collection of 12,000+ donated certificate records, but future versions will expand the types of records made available.

Thanks as always go to our dedicated volunteers, whose work enables this wonderful and ever-growing collection of records.

To learn more about each dataset (including information about the records, the source and the coverage periods) head to the Online Database Search and look for the link to the PDF data sheets in the right hand column.
