Endometriosis doesn’t always look the way we expect.
With Endometriosis Awareness Month coming to an end, there’s been a lot of conversation around endometriosis, and it’s highlighted how differently it can present.
While pelvic pain is often talked about and is important, not everyone experiences it in the same way or at all.
Sometimes it can show up more subtly, with things like heavy periods, spotting or breakthrough bleeding, hormonal changes, ongoing fatigue, digestive or urinary symptoms, or fertility challenges.
I didn’t fit the typical picture, yet was later diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis.
Because it doesn’t always present as expected, it can sometimes be overlooked or dismissed.
Understanding this variability can be an important step in feeling more informed about your body and knowing when to seek further support.
I’ve written more broadly about endometriosis, including how it can present, as well as different ways support can be approached, in my blog.
