I Can Jump Puddles is thrilled to launch our Preschool Boost Program, supporting early learning environments where every child can thrive.

We offer three evidence-based programs through our Preschool Boost initiative to support children aged 0–8 in preschool and early learning settings. These programs work together to build the capacity of families and educators, promote inclusion, and support developmental and social-emotional growth.

This week, our Director, Sam Boag, visited Halifax Children's Centre and Preschool to introduce the Pyramid Model, an evidence-based approach that fosters inclusive learning environments by nurturing relationships and developing strong social and emotional competencies.

Held at Halifax's Hidden Oasis in the city, the session provided educators with a valuable opportunity to strengthen their understanding and build practical skills that support children’s wellbeing and development. We are excited to collaborate with teams as these strategies are implemented across services, helping create nurturing and inclusive environments for all children.

An easy at-home activity that supports child development

The straw race isn’t just a fun game to play with siblings or family; it’s also a great way to practice breathing strategies that support emotional and physical regulation.

All you need is a straw and a lightweight object such as a cotton ball, paper ball, or even bubbles, and see how far your child can blow it.

If you try this activity at home, let us know how it goes in the comments below!

This week's Friday Focus is the Outcomes-focused principle!

Being outcomes-focused means making decisions about services and strategies based on the outcomes children, parents, carers and families want for themselves.

Outcomes are the positive changes and benefits experienced by children and families once agreed services, supports and strategies are in place.

By starting with the outcome in mind, decisions about the services offered are guided by what matters most to the child and their family, not assumptions about what practitioners or others think is best.

This Friday, we’re spotlighting the Community-Focused principle!

You’ve likely heard the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child.” It reminds us how important community is in helping children thrive.

This week's principle recognises the importance of creating welcoming and inclusive communities where children and their families feel valued and
accepted.

Connected communities bring resources, knowledge and expertise, which lead to integrated systems of support to strengthen children’s development, family well-being, and meaningful participation in the community
