• congratulations Helen - Harts award •
Please put down your Tuesday taco and be up standing and let’s ALL congratulate adelaidewriter, Helen…. for being the recent Harts award winner thanks to the hartofthebarossa 🍷 Helen kindly gave up some time to describe her own experience ….. of what Chi means ….
“ Firstly, thanks so much for the Hart Award, being the first recipient for the year was so unexpected and, as you know, caught me off guard. I appreciate Wardy's words. I admire him both as a person and for his relentless commitment to his own goals. During Not Negotiable November, I loved our exchanges via the Chi Community page. Every day when I posted my steps, I also looked forward to seeing what Wardy had done. It was a great motivator for which I am grateful. To be awarded the Hart is such an honour and to have Wardy present it to me might sound like a cliché but it really did mean such a lot.
I would be grateful if you could squeeze Wardy somewhere in the Hart Award post, if that's appropriate and possible.
For me, Chi has become a rhythm I genuinely look forward to — commit, connect, contribute. Those three words really matter to me, and they’re a big part of why Chi has woven itself into my daily life. I believe in the power of habits — the mix of regular, varied sessions on the Square has made it surprisingly easy to stay consistent. I feel stronger, fitter and more energised, and somewhere along the way I found myself back at my goal weight — 5kg down over the past year — simply by moving often and keeping a healthy approach to food. What I didn’t expect was the emotional and mental shift. Chats with Kris and others in the Chi community have nudged me to rethink how I respond to people and situations. This has made me look more closely at my relationships — how I show up, what I give and what genuinely adds to my life. Personal growth takes effort, just like physical fitness, and Chi has quietly become part of that work for me.
The community has grown into something I value far beyond the Square. I’m genuinely grateful to feel part of it. It is one of those rare spaces that lifts you up without making a fuss about it.
Kris Massie and Tracey Massie’s commitment to the Chi Train - Move • Refuel • Love community is unique. The sessions themselves are always fantastic and I genuinely look forward to them; but it’s everything wrapped around those sessions that’s made the biggest difference for me. Maintain Momentum was a standout, partly because I loved spending time with that group, and also because it kept me connected to my fitness in a way that felt doable and fun. Not Negotiable November was huge for me too. Hitting those steps every day became this motivating challenge I didn’t want to miss. I am looking forward to Febby by Foot. Then there's the other things such as Bri's Love Ya Mug and Thurdle that motivate in a different way.
What really sets Chi apart, though, is the community — it’s the real point of difference. Chi isn’t just a group fitness model; it’s a whole ecosystem of support and connection. You can dip in at whatever level suits you: stick to the Square sessions or jump into the extra activities when you want more. That flexibility, Kris' deep commitment and the strength of the community behind it, is what keeps me coming back.
Whatever your age or fitness level, now is the perfect time to start. If it feels a bit daunting, that’s completely normal. So many Chi members will tell you they felt exactly the same way, and that everything shifted once they took that first step and kept showing up.
Kris is a brilliant trainer, and the Chi community is full of people who’ll cheer you on from day one. The sessions are inclusive, welcoming and designed for all levels, so you never feel out of place. Honestly, if you’re even thinking about it, that’s your sign. Give it a go — just do it! “
Congratulations Helen …. All credit to you and your incredible inspiring and supportive ways 🩷
