In this series, each female athlete will share their 3  go to stretches that are part of there routine for there individual sports.

Why is it important for athletes to stretch?

🚴‍♀️Better prepare  the body for activity
🤸‍♀️Improve range of motion
🤾Prevent loss of range of motion
🏋‍♀️Reduce the likelihood of injury and post event muscle soreness
🤼‍♀️Enhance performance
🧘‍♀️Improve posture

There is different variation of stretches,
Passive stretch
Dynamic stretch
Static stretch
Active stretch

Depending on what you want to achieve you should choose accordingly

🌟Hip Mobility 🌟

Opening up our hips can make huge changes for us as we often compensate our movements because they are tight!
Everyday habits like watching TV, driving a car or sitting at a desk can lead to decreased hip mobility.

The below exercise is a gentle way to start the process to opening up our hips.

Ideally we get to a 90/90 with our knees and hips and rotate. Let your body guide you as our mobility will all be very different.

Rotate left to right, 6 times each side x 3. If that seems to difficult you can hold it each side for 30 seconds and build from there each week.

🌟Shoulder Mobilty🌟

An easy one to forget! Only when you reach for that top shelf or try that new yoga pose that you remember to keep your shoulders moving.

This is a simple movement pattern that will keep your shoulder mobility in tact.

Simply rotate your arms up and over your head and back. Do this 10 times each side x 3

Thoracic Mobility Continued . . . . .

How did you find last weeks exercise? There are many different ways to unlock and keep the mobility in your thoracic region.

For this next exercise you can stay in this position (each side for balance of course) for 30 seconds or do 10 reps on each side x 3. If you can incorporate this into your daily routine along with some foam rolling you will feel the difference.

👉🏽 make sure you follow your hand with your eyes and with all stretches or exercises don’t forget to breath 🧘‍♀️
