What is mastitis?

Mastitis is a condition that occurs when the breast tissue becomes inflamed, usually as a result of a bacterial infection.

Physiotherapists can play an important role in the management of mastitis by helping to relieve symptoms and promoting healing.

Here are some ways that a physiotherapist can help with mastitis:
* Breast massage
* Lymphatic drainage
* Exercise
* Education

Overall, physiotherapy can play an important role in the management of mastitis, working alongside medical interventions such as antibiotics and pain relief medication. If you are experiencing mastitis symptoms, it's important to seek medical advice from your healthcare provider or you can book an appointment with our physiotherapists, Queenie or Grace in Stepney.

Do you know physiotherapy can be an effective and non-invasive treatment option for BPPV, and can help to improve a person's balance, reduce dizziness, and improve their quality of life?

A physiotherapist can perform specific maneuvers to reposition the displaced calcium crystals in the inner ear, which helps to alleviate the symptoms of vertigo.

The most common maneuver used by physiotherapists to treat BPPV is called the Epley maneuver, also known as the canalith repositioning procedure.

During this maneuver, the physiotherapist guides the patient through a series of head movements that help to move the calcium crystals out of the affected ear canal and into a different part of the inner ear where they no longer cause vertigo symptoms.

If you experience dizziness associated with BPPV, feel free to schedule an appointment for an assessment and treatment with one of our physiotherapists with/without a doctorโ€™s referral.

Many headache sufferers we see in the physio clinic have a very stiff thoracic spines (the part of the back that runs from your upper shoulder blades down to the upper waist line).

Unfortunately for many of us - through excessive ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ , ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐  and generally ๐ฉ๐จ๐จ๐ซ ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ž, this part of the spine has lost its ๐Ÿ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฑ๐ข๐›๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ.

The stiffness then leads to compensation - commonly tightness felt in the back, shoulders

These foam roller exercises are designed to improve your posture, increase mobility through the thoracic spine and decrease the pressure of the head and neck.

If you are a headache sufferer, please give these exercises a try and let us know in the comments how you get on.

De Quervainโ€™s Tenosynovitis (aka ๅฆˆๅฆˆๆ‰‹ in mandarin or it can also be known as thumb and wrist pain) is an inflammatory condition. It causes pain at the thumb side of your wrist where the base of your thumb meets your forearm.

Keep watching to see how strengthening exercises have been shown to speed up the healing process and reduce your symptoms.

If you donโ€™t have a weight, you can use a can of drink or fill up a water bottle with water.

For the stretches do 15 seconds to start with, gradually increase it to 30 seconds, 2-3 times, do it a few times throughout the day. If more pain arises make sure you donโ€™t overdo it. If this does happen, you may need to do fewer repetitions or take a break for a few days.
