World AIDS Day on December 1 is fast approaching! This is the perfect chance to show your support and remind others that HIV Still Matters.

SAMESH and Thorne Harbour Health will be hosting this year's Street Appeal outside the Adelaide Railway Station - handing out ribbons to raise awareness and funds for people living with HIV on Monday 1 December 8-9am.

We'll also have a stall on Rundle Mall the same day 10am-3pm opposite the Adidas Store - giving out red ribbons and other World AIDS Day items to help raise awareness and reduce stigma relating to HIV.

Registrations are filling FAST to The Big Five-O, our panel discussion on Sun 16 Nov about the political context in which decriminalisation occurred and the role of feminist, anti-war, First Nations, and trade union activism in shaping that landscape.

One of our all-star panellists will be Karina Lester, a second-generation nuclear test survivor whose late father, Yami Lester, spent his life fighting for nuclear justice and was integral to the formation of the 1985 McClelland Royal Commission.

Karina, a senior Aboriginal language worker, continues this legacy in her role as International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICA) Ambassador.

We're incredibly sad to learn of the passing of Eric Kuhlmann.

This legend in Adelaide's LGBTIQA+ communities will be missed dearly. As a proud bear, a performer, and a leader - Eric will be remembered as a sweet, kind, and gentle soul who shared his talents working with a number of community organisations - in particular Feast Festival & Pride Adelaide.

For anyone seeking support at this time, don't hesitate to contact QLife Australia (3pm to midnight, every day) or contact Thorne Harbour Health's Specialist Mental Health Support. To make an appointment, head to: https://thorneharbour.org/south-australia/mental-health-service/

On Nov 16, The Big Five-O will bring together elders who’ll address the political context in which homosexuality decriminalisation in SA occurred and the role of feminist, anti-war, First Nations, and trade union activism in shaping that landscape.

The panel discussion will be followed by a light lunch and then a hands-on ‘crafting activism’ session where you’ll get to ‘paint a patch’ inspired by the stories shared.
