Here is a lovely testimonial from someone who attended last month. Thank you if you recognise your words!

"This was such a beautiful experience, my body went through so many phases! I left smiling and feeling so thankful to my self for booking in the class. Wonderful instructor, calm voice and took the time to explain all the phases and the purpose of each breath, movement and flow. Will definitely be working this into my routine!"

Are you a yoga teacher in Australia who works with sound, with breath or with trance ? Ive been asked to run professional development for the SA Branch of the Australian Psychological Society and I would like to offer the same traning to the Yoga community.

In case you are not familiar with my work check out the soundmoves website or FB page. Basically my career extends over 30 years but these days I am a researcher at University of Adelaide where I study the impact of trance, breath, movement on heart-mind connectivity.

The next Soundmoves Day training happens Saturday, April 06 at a lovely private studio in Basket Range. Its $220 for a daytime training and certification is available for professional development via IAYT, Yoga Alliance and Yoga Australia. There is room for 18 participants.

Day Workshop:
This PD session looks at how the poly-vagal theory characterises discrete autonomic states through the
lens of heart-mind connections in the vagal systems. Poly-vagal theory takes a bottom up view that
considers consciousness an emergent property that is greatly influenced by physiological functions such
as breath rate and heart rate. Focussing in on the research into heart rate variability biofeedback we will
see how optimum breathing provides a gentle path towards emotional stability and interoceptive
sensitivity. It has been known for millenia that soft slow breathing helps to cultivate the "right kind of
attention". More recently mapping of vagal pathways has illuminated the therapeutic benefits of cardio-
respiratory stimulation.
Putting theory into practice the day is interspersed with skills development sessions where we learn to
orient to safe mode using the Soundmoves method. Noah Mckenna has decades of experience training
Yoga teachers to facilitate a deep and non-verbal experience for others.

Three Learning Outcomes::
1. Develop the ability to guide a person towards emotional stability using breath and
music.
2. Deepen the understanding of Poly-Vagal Theory
3. Understand how the vagal system connects body and mind.

Donations are appreciated but not required. The aim is to make wellbeing accessible with regular weekly Yoga. Our Australian classes run via Zoom every Tuesday and Thursday at 7 am Adelaide time.

The Soundmoves approach to Yoga applies synchronised breathing to multiple styles of practice. Our yoga co-opts resonant frequency breathing to maximise heart rate variability. We offer certified Yoga Teacher Training Courses and Yoga Alliance and IAYT continuing education.

Would you like to transform your mornings with Soundmoves Yoga ?

Starting November 14 I will be streaming 30 min Zoom classes at 7 am every Tuesday and Thursday Adelaide Time.

The intention that inspired Goodmornings is twofold. First I want to provide freely accessible Yoga therapy to anyone who feels the need and finds a benefit from regular practice. Second it is an opportunity for me to share the work I do as a Yoga Teacher and offering morning classes has long been my favourite way to start a day.

I’ll be saying a lot more about the Soundmoves method and what is involved in the classes over the next few weeks. For now though I want to share the link to register. Please feel free to share the details with anyone who likes starting the day with gentle breath-centred Yoga and meditation.

See link in Bio to register!

Soundmoves Yoga puts resonant frequency breathing into Yoga practice. Noah has created sounds for breathing that synchronise with therapeutic movement. Soundmoves is a trance inducing slow-flow designed to switch on the neurological pathways for stress reduction by exercising vagal tone. The Soundmoves practice promotes heart-mind coherence with an implicit shift to the positive… its deep and its seriously fun.

Soundmoves Resonant Frequency Breathing (RFB) uses innovative technology and music therapy to provide the gold standard in self healing breath-work and meditation support for happiness and health. Answering the questions which speed to breath at which technique to use while breathing and how to employ the practice in daily life.

RFB Biofeedback is an emerging evidence based science which uses realtime cardiac monitoring to find the optimum pace of breathing. For every individual there is an ideal breath pace that creates a peak oscillation in Heart Rate. The importance of exercising the autonomic regulation of the Heart is massive. The majority of Vagal and Parasympathetic influence is to provide an almost instantaneous effect on the Hearts rhythm. In return the heart is very closely monitored and informs at a deep level emotional regulation and attentional abilities. The current of informations ascends through multiple levels from brain stem to limbic system to Higher Cortical regions. By creating sustained heart patterns a synchrony arises in multiple systems including not just states of being but also immune function, somatic tension and pain thresholds. This workshop will be set at a comfortable warm temperature to allow the muscles and body to feel relaxed.

Its been a few months since I returned to my hometown of Adelaide, Australia to study the Soundmoves Method with the support of the University of Adelaide, Faculty of Medicine.

Basically Im doing a PhD in pure research! No subjects and no exams. What brought me here was years of independent research into Heart Rate Variability, Vagal Tone, Biofeedback and of course Applied Yoga Therapy.

I find myself in an unusual situation because I am studying the potential for a new type of natural medicine. However this is nothing new ! Humans have been performing rhythmical, trance inducing breathing, vocalising and movement for longer than the record of documented history.

Before I ventured on this scientific journey the origin of Soundmoves was to choreograph resonant frequency breathing with the myriad techniques and methods of Yoga practice. Central to the formula was the production of music to define the time and captivate the attention.

Now that Ive settled into Adelaide Im’m really happy to announce that Soundmoves classes will begin ~ in the same place where my own Yoga journey began 34 years ago !

Classes will be held at Human.Kind Studios in the city on Halifax St. Mondays and Wednesdays from 8-9 am.

Everyone is welcome to try a class !

Soundmoves Yoga

Soundmoves is a form of yoga therapy using specially customised music to guide the breath. Developed by Australian yoga therapist and teacher Noah McKenna, the therapeutic benefits include a calmer and more focused mind, a happier disposition and a reduction in stress levels.

It is completely safe for all age groups and is recommended for anyone interested in yoga. Wherever you are at on your yoga path, Soundmoves will help to deepen your practice. If you are a yoga teacher you can use it as another tool for your repertoire and to add another layer to your classes.

The benefits of adopting a regular conscious breathing routine are well documented. Using a technique known as Resonant Frequency Breathing (breathing a little slower than normal) paced in time to music, we can increase the communication lines through the vagal system - through the brain and heart via the lungs. This creates an internal experience of comfort, safety, familiarity and a feeling of deep peace.
