Welcome to Ayr’s Jungle 🐵🦁🦒🐘🐸🦩

The Ayr clinic have recently created this amazing display of a Jungle, which was used to prompt their paediatric clients to identify what animal they thought they would be based on their skills and personality. This activity had a focus on self-reflection and self awareness.

Skills such as fine motor, cognitive flexibility and problem solving were strengthen through the puzzle component, while the colouring and scissor skills were aimed at working on functional and skill-based skills.

Life with ADHD can be like running on a limited set of “spoons” every day. 🥄

The Spoon Theory is a way to illustrate how people with ADHD experience limited energy throughout their day. Each “spoon” represents the effort it takes to get through daily tasks, from getting ready in the morning to focusing at work or school, but when the spoons run out, so does our energy.

So how can you recharge your spoons? 🪫

Recently the Ayr clinic created a growth garden for display in their waiting room. Their paediatric clients were asked to identify a goal or something they were “growing”🌳 towards. This activity had a focus on strengthening and developing fine motor skills through the use of handwriting and scissor skills.

These playful, evidence-based resources can help children with ADHD strengthen:

🧠 Cognitive skills - attention, planning, and problem-solving
💪 Motor skills - balance, coordination, and fine motor control

Last week was OT week and the Mackay clinic celebrated it by creating a beautiful display about what OT means to their clients. It was wonderful to see how much of an impact our OT’s have on their clients lives.

Team culture – it’s everything!!!

I’ve always believed that how we show up for each other matters just as much as the work we do. A great culture doesn’t just happen, it’s built through connection, laughter, and those moments where we get to drop the day-to-day and just have fun together.

Our Townsville team did exactly that at our recent quarterly team development afternoon – an “anything goes” team games showdown where each group were named after one of our ATS values: Excellence, Passion, Integrity, and Collaboration.

The creativity, competitiveness, and laughs were next level (and maybe a bit chaotic at times 😅). Massive shoutout to Team Excellence for taking out the win and to everyone who got involved with such great spirit.

These afternoons remind me why culture matters so much. Because when people feel connected, valued, and part of something bigger, that energy flows right back into the incredible work we do every day.

Today our team traded their uniforms for ugg boots and cosy PJs to celebrate Pyjama Day — and we did it in style!

From sleep masks to matching pyjama sets, the vibe was all comfort and connection.

More importantly, it was a chance to come together and raise awareness for children in foster care — reminding us that a safe and nurturing environment is something every child deserves.

A big shout-out to our amazing team for showing up with heart, humour, and a whole lot of team spirit.

Our Story

Since commencing in Ayr in 2013, RAR Therapy has been providing pre-kindy, kindy and school-based Occupational Therapy services to local children and families. In 2017 we expanded our services to adults and work closely with NDIS clients, local providers and suppliers. Private Health and Medicare Rebates are available.

We offer the following flexible services: One on One Sessions Group therapy Sessions Assessments – Developmental Screening, Comprehensive Assessments, Functional Assessments. Education/Presentations – Parents/Carers, Educators, Businesses etc. On-site (e.g. Schools, Day Care Centres) and Home Visits with the option for clinic sessions.

RAR Therapy began trading as RAR Therapy in 2018 and at the commencement of 2019 published our Vision, Mission and Core Values:
