Despite being one of the most preventable and treatable forms of cancer, cervical cancer remains the fourth most common cancer in women worldwide.

Australia, however, is on track to be the first country to eliminate cervical cancer as a health problem by 2035, due to successful implementation of the HPV vaccination and routine cervical screening programs.

If you have questions about the HPV vaccination, routine cervical screenings, or signs, symptoms and treatment for cervical cancer – please give us a ring at 3264 2622.

Today we celebrate the International Day of Older Persons, acknowledging the needs of older people and their rights to dignity, respect, equality, and healthy aging.

As a practice, we aim to promote a positive aging process. One way of doing such is through FREE annual health assessments for those aged 75 and over, an initiative to help our older demographic maintain a healthy lifestyle, improve independence, and ensure all levels of support and healthcare are being provided.

If you’d like information on the 75+ health assessment, or to book, please contact our reception staff on 3264 2622.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to focus on breast cancer and the impact it has on those in our community.

Breast cancer continues to be the most common cancer diagnosed in women, with 1 in 8 Queensland women being diagnosed with the disease.

It’s important to be ‘breast aware’ – to monitor for changes in your breast, including lumps, discharge, unusual pain, or change in appearance. Women between the ages of 50-74 years old are invited to book regular mammograms with BreastScreen Queensland. Women aged 40-49 are also eligible for free mammograms with BreastScreen Queensland, even without symptoms.

If you would like to discuss breast cancer signs/symptoms, screening, prevention or treatment, please call 3264 2622 to book with your GP.
