DSF Literacy Clinic - Albany

DSF Literacy Clinic - Albany We are recognised as a "centre of excellence" in the field of literacy development and in the understanding and response to literacy failure.

The Dyslexia SPELD Foundation (DSF) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that provides a range of services for children with persistent learning difficulties and disabilities. Our services are designed to benefit all children struggling with literacy acquisition, regardless of whether or not they have been identified with a learning disability (such as dyslexia). Specialising In:
* Specialist Literacy Tuition,
* Assessments of Literacy
* Psychological Literacy Assessments

The students who will gain the most from attendance at the Clinic are students currently falling behind in their literacy development. Specifically these students are likely to:
* Struggle to read accurately and fluently;
* Struggle with reading comprehension;
* Make frequent spelling errors, particularly in written expression;
* Display a reluctance to participate in literacy-based activities;
* Compensate when reading by guessing from: pictures, initial letters, or the 'look'of a word;
* Have difficultly remembering the relationships between sounds and letters;
* Have difficulty with writing;
* Have poor self-esteem, particularly in relation to literacy activities;
* Rarely read for pleasure. As a not-for-profit clinic our fees will be kept as low as possible.
